Kerry's Woes: Power Outages and Yacht Tows—All in a Day's News!

Aqua Dome - Christmas Markets - Festive Season - Gaisce Gold Medals - Kerry News - Local Incidents - Power Outages - Tralee Bay

From power outages to festive markets and yacht rescues, Kerry's news is anything but boring!

Strap yourself in, because Kerry is buzzing with news that’s as varied as a box of assorted chocolates! With over 4,000 homes without power in the picturesque regions of Kerry and West Limerick, the ESB PowerCheck team is working overtime. Kilflynn is particularly hard hit with about 1,500 customers waiting for the lights to flicker back on by 4pm. Let’s just hope these folks have stocked up on those cozy blankets and festive cheer to get through the dark hours!

But let’s brighten up the mood! As winter approaches and festivities begin, Killarney is getting ready to dazzle visitors with its Christmas festival. Starting from the 7th of December, the Fair Hill car park will host charming cabins, open for business every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Think mulled wine, arts and crafts, and that fantastic Christmas spirit that warms the hearts of all. Perfect for both locals and visitors, it’s a magical way to embrace the season and warm up after a chilly stroll!

In a burst of inspiration, five young champions in Kerry were recently awarded the prestigious Gaisce Gold Medals by President Michael D. Higgins. These medals are no casual accolade, representing exceptional effort and determination in various activities—from adventure challenges to community service. Such recognition ensures the future of Ireland shines bright, with enthusiastic young individuals standing up and making differences, one Gold Medal at a time!

Meanwhile, the coastal life in Tralee Bay experienced a bit of drama when a yacht, stricken with engine failure, needed assistance. Thankfully, a good Samaritan was on hand to tow the beleaguered vessel to safety. Just one sailor was on board when the mishap occurred at 9:40 pm; let’s hope he gets home in time for a warm cuppa!

While we're all about the records this year, did you know that the Aqua Dome has once again exceeded its previous financial highs? This beloved attraction is not just a waterpark, it's a robust contributor to Kerry's economic vitality! So whether you're chasing power restoration, just looking for festive cheer, or keeping up with local legends, there's never a dull moment in the kingdom. And speaking of local legends, we can’t forget the heartbreaking search for Patrick 'Patsy' O’Sullivan, whose family continues to hold hope after he mysteriously vanished years ago. Kerry’s resilience shines through as we continue to look out for one another in good times and bad!
