As the countdown to the Paris 2024 Olympics continues, all eyes are on the sailing events, with the largest fleet of boats ever set to take to the waves. These small, white-sailed boats, previously known as lasers, are now referred to as ILCA 6 for women and ILCA 7 for men. Though sleek in design, these vessels bring their own unique challenges, sailing slower and deeper in the water than their predecessors. This means that not only must participants master their sailing skills, but they also need to strategize smartly to overcome the elements.
However, the journey has not been without its hiccups! A lack of wind during the first medal races had athletes sweating it out in more ways than one, as excitement turned to delay.
