Blue Beetle is set to release on August 18, 2023, and is expected to be a game-changer in the world of superhero movies. With Mariduena's stellar performance and the talented cast, Blue Beetle is shaping up to be an exciting addition to the DC Universe. The 21-year-old actor, who is also the first [Latino](/topic/latino)actor to play the main role in a DC superhero film, completely owns the role of the teenage superhero, who gains his powers from an alien scarab that attaches itself to him. [Susan Sarandon](/topic/susan-sarandon)portrays [Victoria Kord](/topic/victoria-kord), a character whose exact role is yet to be revealed. He added that he felt honored to play the role of Jaime Reyes and that it was a dream come true for him to be cast as Blue Beetle. Mariduena's performance in the trailer shows his character's transformation into Blue Beetle, sporting a blue costume that sets him apart from other superhero characters.

The film also stars Belissa Escobedo ("American Horror Stories," "Hocus Pocus 2") as Jaime's sister, Milagro, and Harvey Guillén ("What We Do in the Shadows") as Dr. "The studio kind of allowed me to run free in my creativity, and unbeknownst to them and to me, I guess what they were able to see as the promise of how we picture Palmera City, how we really wanted the suit to be, and how in the bigger realm of this cultural side is the impact that this can have culturally," Soto continued. "But also in the superhero genre as just so to try something different, with the hopes that people will see it as this, for the hope that people can see it as what it is, it's very, a lot of love, a lot of heart.
