Allianz Hurling League - Kilkenny 2-22 Cork 0-22 recap (RTE.ie)

Kilkenny booked their place in the Allianz National Hurling League final against Limerick with a relatively straight-forward victory over Cork at Nowlan ...

Full-time: Kilkenny 2-22 Cork 0-22 That's a straight-forward victory for Kilkenny, who led from start to finish and were never really troubled by a Cork side who struggled to get their forwards into the game at all. 70+5 mins Drennan picks out Kenny unmarked in front of the Cork posts with a wonderful pass. 59 mins Cork substitute Patrick Horgan hits his first point of the game, courtesy of a free from distance. Not sure what that was for, but I think something must have happened away from the main fracas. He has a talk with Rob Downey and Paddy Deegan before consulting with his linesmen again and after all that Tommy O'Connell, Timmy Clifford, Downey and Deegan are all shown a yellow card. Drennan dusts himself down and gets up to take the penalty and he riffles it to the back of the net. 43 mins Drennan appears to get a whack on the head from Damien Cahalane's stray hurl just as he's poised to pull the trigger in front of the Cork goal. That's his seventh point of the game. Cork recover quickly at the back but Clifford is still able to take the point. 29 mins A long puck drops in front of the Kilkenny goal and Padraig Power gathers it. 13 mins David Blanchfield is down and needs treatment after taking a whack in an area no man ever wants to be hit. Much of the focus today will be on Kilkenny's rising star Billy Drennan.

Kilkenny will face Limerick in a mouth-watering Division 1 HL League final after goals proved the difference when overcoming Cork in Nowlan Park this ...

They had the gap back to four in injury time, 2-20 to 0-22, but Gearóid Dunne made a big impact off the bench for the Cats while Drennan kept the scoreboard ticking over as they prevailed by six points. The teams got to know each other just seconds later with a dust up resulting in four yellow cards (one each for Kilkenny duo Timmy Clifford and Paddy Deegan and the same for Rob Downey and Timmy O'Connell) while Eoin Downey was shown a straight red by referee John Keenan. They narrowed the gap to two, 0-8 to 0-6, with Shane Kingston and Conor Cahalane firing over from play but they were soon in trouble at the other end with Keoghan blasting to the net in the 22nd minute.
