What Tesco Clubcard changes mean to you (WalesOnline)

Tesco's Clubcard points will be worth twice their value rather than three times as they are now when customers cash them in from June 14 this year.

However, Tesco has announced that they are extending the validity of rewards for an extra six months in the lead up to June 14, 2023. However this summer, the same £30 worth of Clubcard points would only get the shopper £60 towards Legoland tickets. If a Tesco shopper collected 500 Clubcard points, this would typically be worth £5 to spend in the shop. Therefore, the 500 Clubcard points would be worth £15. With the Clubcard scheme, shoppers have been able to collect points for money they spend at Tesco. The popular scheme enables points to be spent at locations including Pizza Express, Legoland and Alton Towers.

The supermarket has announced that it will cut the value of its Clubcard rewards scheme.

"As costs spiral, Tesco has already cut jobs at its head office and reduced the number of managers in its stores. The Supermarket said they will also be extending the time period that Clubcard rewards would be valid for from six months to 12 so that shoppers can use points at the higher value ahead of the change. Tesco Clubcard points will be worth less when customers cash them in as Britons are urged to be quick to maximise rewards.

Tesco to cut value of Clubcard points (Which?)

The supermarket has more than 100 reward partners including Legoland and Pizza Express.

But be aware that any savings you make by making use of a retailer’s loyalty scheme could be cancelled out if the shop's prices are higher than those of its competitors. The supermarket will also be closing its Clubcard app on 18 April. The reduction in value of using Clubcard points with reward partners isn’t the only adjustment Tesco will make to the loyalty scheme in the coming months. But from 14 June, the supermarket will change the boost from three times to two times the value of points, so 50p worth of points would only be worth £1 with reward partners. This will be the second time in five years Tesco has lowered the value of its Clubcard points when spent with its reward partners.

Tesco shoppers urged to act fast to make most of Clubcard Rewards (ChronicleLive)

Loyal shoppers are angry at the grocery giant's announcement that points will drop in value when spent on treats such as days out.

Cinema tickets have become increasingly expensive in recent years (typically £10+ depending on where you are), so this is a strong deal – and if you're a regular at the flicks, the savings can soon add up." So if you spend £1 on a £10 voucher, you'll get £9 as new vouchers. This is a good way to cut down the cost of travelling, providing you can't find a cheaper deal elsewhere." There's a range of restaurants to choose from, and at 3x value it's a good swap to boost a family meal out – but only if no other decent deals are available for that restaurant as Clubcard vouchers can't be used on top." - Print vouchers or use the codes online. If you want to spend vouchers online, you simply need to use the code listed. Martin says: "Can mean a significant discount on huge range of hotels. However, Tesco is extending this for an additional six months leading up to 14 June, so any Reward Partner codes ordered before this date will continue to be valid for 12 months from the date of issue.
