Day in the life of Ricky Hill: Ireland country manager for EV charging ... (BreakingNews.ie)

The Irish electric vehicle (EV) market is in "extreme growth mode" according to the country manager of Monta, a Danish EV charging platform that recently ...

"Ireland is ahead of a lot of countries in Europe with charge points, but the Netherlands is the most mature market in Europe. They also have different challenges because they are so far down the road with electrification that their grid is very demanding. We do need solutions like Monta is creating around grid balancing and so on for that. On one hand we're heating up the grid by enabling people to use more electricity, but we're also working with the grid on beta projects, so they can pause or stop charges when there are high levels like 10,000 at once. We're in the middle of this huge energy transition, and I'm part of a company that is pioneering solutions for today and the next 40, 50 years. it's on the agenda for the Department of Transport. supporting existing customers and speaking with prospective customers to explain what Monta can do for them. A huge amount goes on supporting our customers, then for existing customers there's account management and that side of things. So if you're using Monta, and I'm using a different one, you have the same access to every charging point. Electrifying everything causes massive issues with the grid, so how do we solve that? "We don't share maps, so you need three or four different accounts and that's a poor experience for the EV driver. It can be adapted to any type of car park, working stations, public, for things like reservations, queueing, fleet management tools...

“It’s probably the hardest lead in to a World Cup they could have wanted. It really is a poor set-up by World Rugby and it’s a problem. “I think that this team could rightfully say that they are the greatest team. Notable scepticism about financial services firms delivering on environmental, social and governance promises.

They also view as “very” or “extremely” important that companies in financial services act in a responsible manner when it comes to ESG issues. And it is even lower when asked whether financial services companies will deliver on their social responsibilities, with just one in 10 people saying they are optimistic in this area. Ireland stepping up international cooperation to counter hybrid threats (The Irish Times)

Irish naval team currently taking part in counter-mine exercise in Greece following invite from Greek Navy.

The documents note requests to Minister for Defence Mr Martin and his predecessor Simon Coveney for military personnel to attend various Nato courses, seminars and meetings. Ireland is not a member of Nato but is a member of its Partnership for Peace Programme since 1999. The documents also show plans for Defence Forces participation in other international exercises focusing on hybrid threats, including several which will take place under the Nato banner. “But, given the new threats in the world today, cybersecurity, issues around undersea cables, hybrid warfare...we need to look at the threats and the challenges to Ireland and the broader European Union community, and how best, in a meaningful way, we respond.” The requests include permission for the chief-of-staff Lieut General Sean Clancy to attend a Nato chiefs of defence conference and for the head of the Air Corps, Brigadier General Rory O’Connor, to attend a Nato air chiefs symposium. Ireland was invited as it is a member of the Project Maritime (semi-) Autonomous Systems for Mine Countermeasures, which is aimed at enhancing a country’s abilities to protect harbours, ships and offshore installations using autonomous vehicles.
