Traffic lights outside of the entrance to University Hospital Galway are also out of order. ESB Networks crews have completed repair work on a transformer in the city after it tripped this morning, causing widespread disruption.

Thousands of homes and businesses on the east side of the city were without power, and the issue arose after a transformer tripped at a sub-station in the Ballybane area earlier today. There were tailbacks on most approaches to the city and the Citylink bus company said its 1.30pm service to Cork was delayed by 30 minutes as a result of the heavy traffic this afternoon, which had an impact on pick ups in Limerick.
