St Patrick's Day parade in Trim to pass through 'Sensory Street' with ... (Meath Chronicle)

A NEW idea being trialled this year at the Trim parade is the 'sensory street' where the noise of the parade will be less with no horns or whistles blown.

Chief Organiser Jimmy Ryan said: “Don’t be scared to dress up on the day, wear as much green outfits, hats, flags, costumes as you like, the more the better. The route continues up Patrick Street, onto Emmet Street, Market Street and finishing at Castle Street. Bands will not play and cars and cars and lorries will not blow their horns.

Tomorrow, for the St Patrick's Day parade in Limerick City, there will be a number of road closures and traffic restrictions in place.

Services from Raheen to University of Limerick will operate from Raheen to Colbert Station via Hyde Rd. Services from Ennis to Limerick will operate via Ivan’s Shop, Clonmacken Roundabout and Shannon Tunnel. Services from Limerick to Ennis will operate via Ivan’s Shop, Clonmacken Roundabout and Shannon Tunnel. Services from Ballynanty to Henry St will then operate via Clancy Strand and the Treaty Stone over Thomond Bridge to St Mary’s Park. From Colbert Station it will travel to Future Sound and Vision on Upper William St. It will then operate from Future Sound and Vision on its regular route to the University of Limerick. The return trip will also operate via the normal route using the temporary loading bay opposite the Strand Hotel as a terminus. Services from Pineview to Kilmallock Rd / O'Malley Pk will operate from High Street over Thomond Bridge to Island Road. to the Crescent Shopping Centre and on to Raheen as per Regular Route. Services from Kilmallock Rd / O'Malley Pk to Pineview will operate to Future Sound and Vision on Upper William Street and then operate via Pennywell, Lelia St., Clare St. and on to Moyross and Craeval Pk. and Pennywell it will proceed via Sexton St.

There will be music and a great atmosphere in the town on the day, with many local artists taking to the stage from noon to build an atmosphere before the parade begins. The theme of this years event is – Past Present & Future - and is open to interpretation by each club or organisation. ROSCREA: The parade is expected to include face painting and plenty of music to entertain all ages. There will be a prize on the day for the best-dressed 'Paddy’s Day' Outfit so be sure to dress up well. There will also be a collection on the day in aid of the local Moycarkey-Coolcroo AC. A special Pat Houlihan Memorial trophy in honour of the late Pat Houlihan, will be presented as a prize on the day.
