IT takes something special to win once at the Cheltenham Festival, let alone twice, but Flooring Porter has a Stayers' Hurdle hat-trick in his sights today.
It was a shrewd move by Cromwell to run the six-year-old at Sandown the last day – and he has likely been better treated by the handicapper compared to some of his Irish rivals. Each-way punters may side with the Meath trainer’s outsider, Level Neverending. The Waterford trainer sends five in pursuit of a poignant success – and Magical Zoe has strong claims, having been put away for this prize since winning a Grade Three in November. Haut En Couleurs is a second-season chaser that has found another level this season – he looked like a winner of the Grade Two Horse & Jockey Hotel Chase before falling at the last – and there is more to come. THIS could be a tale of the two Zoes, with Magical Zoe and Princess Zoe leading contenders in this 21-runner affair. The lack of practice over hurdles is a worry for Tony Mullins’ Princess Zoe – she dead-heated on her only start over obstacles in January – but her experience on the track dwarfs her rivals. ELLIOTT has been the man to follow in this competitive affair – winning three of the last five renewals – and his quartet of runners include three at the top of the weights. He edged out Klassical Dream in the Hatton’s Grace – and that rival is also respected, as Mullins’ nine-year-old often produces his best on the back of a break like today. It was assumed that he would shape much fitter for that run, so further improvement is expected – and he may be the one to upset Shishkin if the hot favourite is to be turned over. David Pipe’s six-year-old has just seven runs to his name – and the penny seemed to drop last time out, so more improvement is expected with Mark Walsh in the plate. Banbridge is another Festival winner, having taken last year’s Martin Pipe, and he has taken to fences in good style, with Joseph O’Brien’s charge finishing with a flourish to take second in the Irish Arkle over a trip much too short for his liking. THE only negative hanging over Mighty Potter is the fact that he blew out here in last year’s Supreme but Gordon Elliott’s exciting novice has been sensational over fences this season, with back-to-back Grade One wins, and he could prove a class apart en route to bigger and better things.

The one difference this time is his training was interrupted by an injury setback which put his defence in jeopardy. Time was when Envoi Allen was regarded as a future superstar of the sport. That was one of two wins he has gained on the Old course, but he has shown his aptitude for the New course too when third over hurdles in December.
We are set for a tremendous third day at the Cheltenham Festival as the Stayers' Hurdle and Ryanair Chase are the two feature races of the day.
[View All Today's Results](/results) Additionally, for even more insider info, check out ITV4 (and ITV X) for a preview show of the day's racing from 8.30 AM to 10 AM as Oli Bell and the team take a look at what is to come on day 3. Next up came the big race of the day and defending champion Energumene was back to his swashbuckling prominent best to claim a second successive Champion Chase. The rain continues to drizzle at Cheltenham overnight, stopping around 4 AM for a brief reprieve before it kicks in again at 10 AM. [Cheltenham Gold Cup](https://www.horseracing.net/cheltenham/gold-cup) with Noble Yeats by banging in a winner on day three of the Cheltenham Festival. He had a spin over hurdles in the Cleeve Hurdle at Cheltenham on his last start which should keep him ticking over and he could run a massive race at big odds in the finale. Very useful on the Flat, which saw her finish third in the Irish Cesarewitch last season, Lot Of Joy was second on hurdling debut, but was more impressive last time out when winning at Fairyhouse by 12 lengths and she can continue on an upward curve here and go very close in a race full of potential. This will be much tougher as she locks horns with the best of Ireland, but from what we have seen so far on the track she is rightly heading the betting and looks a real class act for the Seven Barrows team. He will saddle the red-hot favourite So Scottish in the Plate Handicap Chase at 16:10 and he looks attractively handicapped to go well here. £30 in FREE Bets (FB) as £20 in sports bets & a £10 casino bonus (CB). The Charles Byrnes-trained seven-year-old has won all four starts over hurdles, including two at Cheltenham last season, but he's had his career plagued by injuries so we may not have seen the best of him yet. Maxxum won a qualifier at Leopardstown back in December in fine fashion, but back in third that day was GOOD TIME JONNY, who lines up here on significantly better terms and Tony Martin's charge can reverse the form and claim Pertemps glory.
Alex Hammond: “[On Mighty Potter] Impressive at the Dublin Racing Festival and unbeaten over fences.” 14:50 - Ryanair Chase (Registered as The Festival Trophy) ...
BAR 20/1 Shishkin 10/1 “No way is Luccia at 13/8. BAR 25/1 BAR 40/1 Hitman 20/1 BAR 33/1 Coltor 20/1 His last couple of runs have been over 2m, but going up to 2m and a half gives him a massive chance.” “The rain for me makes this Teahupoo’s. It’ll be a good race between them both.” She has bags of talent and will be hard to beat.”
But let me add another betting stick to my punting profile by suggesting a forecast bet with Appreciate It in case the 'Potter' horse runs way below par. All ...
I said very little about this race last week, but having bypassed the Supreme I feel all Luccia has to do is put in a clear round. I have also heard that Dunboyne is strongly fancied by connections but he too has probably been found in the betting. We are just left with the one representative here, but I am happy to row in with Escaria Ten. In the circumstances and still being a relative Shishkin non believer, I was delighted to see Ga Law declared for this instead of the Gold Cup. You still have to be worried about the interrupted preps of Blazing Khal and Flooring Porter here and surely the other jockeys won’t let Danny Mullins have his own way up front for the third successive year on the reigning champion. But the additional bet has to be a combination forecast and tricast.
David Mullins believes his uncle Tony could have a winner at the Cheltenham Festival on Thursday.
He ran a great race in the Classic Chase at Warwick under Brian Hayes and should improve for that effort. She’s a Group One winning mare on the flat and I think she can definitely get involved here at the very least. On ability alone he is a good bit clear of this field, and after a few poor efforts, last time he bounced back to his very best in the Ascot Chase. This will probably have been the plan for him all season and if he gets around without complications he should go very well. His participation in this contest had been in doubt but he bounced back last time brilliantly to see off a good field at his ease. While Appreciate It and Banbridge are good horses, we may just be looking at a very, very smart one in Mighty Potter.
Thursday at Cheltenham is danger day for punters, it's the only one at the Festival with three wide-open handicaps in which there could be horses lurking ...
The odds are a bit skinny for me, but Gavin Cromwell is a top target trainer and this horse has been laid out for this challenge. Luccia and Ashroe Diamond dominate the betting, but what about Princess Zoe (14/1) in this. This is the only one of Cheltenham’s big races that ‘Jessie’ has not won. But Mouse Morris has French Dynamite in the Ryanair at 16/1. But that was Shishkin’s first decent run since the end of 2021. Davy Russell will be aboard and he’s an Irish winner, surely, to get the day off to a great start.

He has a 50 per cent strike rate on the New course and if his King George VI Chase effort is ignored he is the value option to at least make the frame. The penultimate race of the day will be the Jack de Bromhead Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle (4.50) and I think it’s fair to say that many, many people will be cheering on the de Bromhead runners. Shiskin might have bombed in the Champion Chase last year and there’s no doubt that he has had his struggles with various ailments but there is nobody better around than Nicky Henderson and his team at getting a horse right again after setbacks. He came third in the Irish Arkle, one of the races of the season, and that form has already worked out seriously well when you look at the performance of the Leopardstown winner El Fabiolo, who romped home in the Arkle here on Tuesday. His interrupted campaign has been well documented coming into this, but the regard in which he is evidently held by his shrewd handler Charles Byrnes is more than noteworthy and, in a race brimming with quality, Blazing Khal looks set to prove himself the cream that rises to the top. As the winner of each of her 4 starts in impressive fashion, Luccia looks a deserved favourite in this and can take plenty of beating. It is noteworthy that Beauport will race off his lowest mark in 12 months, having not done very much wrong since his hurdles win at Uttoxeter a year ago, and he rates a leading contender here, with soft ground sure to prove more of a help than a hindrance. Early entries for this year's renewal show that the likes of Mr Incredible and Stumptown will be the likely ones to watch. Many a punter and racing fan will have Shishkin as one of the bankers of the week and unsurprisingly so, having relished the step up to 2m5f when romping away with the Ascot Chase last month, running something very close to a career-best in the process. Blazing Khal is proven at the track, can show his best upped to 3 miles once again and looks the one they all have to beat. This three-mile trip is the culmination of a series of qualifying races hosted throughout the season and is open to horses five years and above. A fascinating running of the Stayers’ Hurdle, and as strong a renewal as we have seen in recent years. One of the highlights of the festival - this is a Grade 1 run over 2.5 miles and usually showcases horses who have one eye on a possible Gold Cup tilt down the line.

Ruby Walsh has won more races at the Cheltenham Festival than any other jockey so there is no better man to turn to for your tips.
Ruby says: Haut En Couleurs is too weak of a finisher for me to pick in this race. So Scottish is the obvious one, but I’m going to go with Frero Banbou now that all the rain is falling. I know I was also tipping Lot Of Joy, but she was 18/1 when I was doing so, she’s now at 6’s (6/1). I was giving Home By The Lee a chance most of the year, but unless it dries up considerably, I’m with Teahupoo. Ruby says: The rain for me makes this Teahupoo’s. It’ll be a good race between them both.

Luccia is the headline act in the Jack De Bromhead Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle at 4.50pm. Teahupoo is likeable and has done nothing wrong this term with two victories and soft ground will make him a major player in this event.
