He faces an up-and-comer from his own yard, Galvin, and the betting will be fascinating. Willie Mullins should get punters off to a successful start in the Ballymore Novices' Hurdle (1.30) with Impaire Et Passe. Ultra-impressive in his three races so far, he is dangerous to discount, with Barry Connell also bullish about Good Land. At huge odds, I Am Maximus could reward each-way players, for all that he has become a little disappointing. The Betway Queen Mother Champion Chase (3.30) will divide opinion. Much better fresh, he has thus been saved all year by Dan Skelton, and he has an excellent record at Cheltenham.

He has some very good back form and this 3m 2f trip looks perfect for the seven-year-old. He certainly looks the safest option in the Paddy Power Stayers’ Hurdle in what is a trappy race. He won the Martin Pipe Conditionals race last year and that form is very solid.

The Ballymore Novices' Hurdle will start the second day of the Cheltenham Festival. Eight of the last nine winners were Irish trained.

In 1974, the horse that he owned, Attivo, won the Triumph Hurdle. A Dream to Share goes in the Champion Bumper. People said that, listening to his commentary that day, you'd never know that he was the owner. Tiger Roll enjoyed the spin in the Cross Country Chase. The experts predict that Edwardstone and Editeur Du Gite will be in the closing credits. He had a heart condition and had to be pulled up in previous races. Last March, he entered seven runners in the race. Ireland had five of the last seven winners of the Coral Cup. It's another afternoon to put the kettle on. It's where his name first began to flicker in the Cheltenham lights. Gordon Elliott hit the jackpot in the Coral Cup last year when Commander of Fleet won at 50/1. Many winners of this race have gone on to win the Gold Cup.

Western Diego is a lovely ride to pick up for Willie Mullins in the Champion Bumper. I ride Epson Du Houx in the Grand Annual, and I hope that he can run well. He goes well on soft ground, so soft ground would be a positive for him. This will be her first run in a race over the cross-country track, but she schooled over the course a couple of months ago, and she was good. He is still lightly raced, he still has the potential to improve more, and he goes into the race with a good each-way chance. He's a classy horse, and he deserves to take his chance in a race like this. But the fact that she seems to really enjoy it is obviously a big positive. It was too early in the race to know how he would have done, but he was travelling well at the time. He's going to have to improve, but he should improve, and his jumping is one of his strong attributes. He isn't a horse who would want very soft ground, but he won his point-to-point on soft ground, so he can handle it. I think that he could be a little bit under-estimated. He was running a nice race in the Grade 1 Neville Hotels Chase at Leopardstown over Christmas when we parted company quite early.

Cheltenham festival Day Two: All the odds, tips, action and talking ... (SportsJOE.ie)

Michael O'Sullivan and Barry Connell were the main men on day One. Can they do it again or Willie Mullins take over on Day Two of Cheltenham?

It certainly felt like there was a young man smiling down. Henry De Bromhead and connections made a wise decision to dodge Constitution Hill - and their hero delivered a Cheltenham fairytale in her last ever run. It all kicked off in breath-taking fashion for the men of the moment, trainer Barry Connell and his young jockey Michael O'Sullivan. Looking back now, Day One was a certified thriller. He's one of the best we've ever seen but Honeysuckle is one of the toughest we've ever seen. It was one of the best days of racing you could imagine.

Cheltenham Festival 2023 LIVE: Ladies Day race updates, results ... (Daily Mail)

Follow Sportsmail's live blog as the Cheltenham Festival continues underway on Ladies Day, with full coverage of today's races to come.

It's the only race in the Cheltenham Festival to not run on the main Cheltenham racecourse. Hello and welcome to Sportsmail's live blog for day two of the Cheltenham Festival. The Queen Mother Champion Chase is regarded as the most prestigious two-mile chase in Britain and Ireland. He disappointed in the Savills Chase but the prospect of better ground on the X-Country course should suit. I was impressed with him and he looks a value bet in the Brown Advisory contest. This season’s Paul Nicholls-trained winner Hermes Alle n looks well up to that standard and he can prove that in the Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle. It was a performance that told you this six-year-old gelding had the talent to win at the biggest festival of all. Last season, Sir Gerhard was an impressive winner of the Ballymore and he made a winning debut over fences. It was great to finally get a Champion Chase last year and I think in the Clarence House he just needed the run over those different style of fences. This is my first ride at the Festival and it's all a bit surreal.' It is a teaming up of the generations. The ground then was good to soft in places and with rain expected every day between now and Friday.
