Lawsuit over genetically defective mare Kept True dismissed in ... (Racing Post Bloodstock)

A lawsuit involving a genetically defective horse that physically appeared to be a mare but was genetically male has been voluntarily dismissed,.

Hidden Brook filed a motion for summary judgment, which was granted by Bunnell in an April order stating, in essence that the Crawfords' claim against the consignor is barred because Keeneland's conditions of sale govern all auction transactions. The Crawfords acknowledged in court records that they did not adhere to the conditions of sale but appealed Bunnell's order dismissing the charges against Hidden Brook. According to court documents, the Crawfords did not have the mare examined prior to removing her from Keeneland's sale grounds.

'Cool' Derek Fox ride praised by Sir Anthony McCoy and Ruby Walsh (Racing Post)

Cheltenham legends Sir Anthony McCoy and Ruby Walsh led the appreciation for rider Derek Fox after he partnered Corach Rambler to a repeat success in.

"Last year there wasn't as much pressure on but this year he's going out there and riding the favourite but he rode him just as cool. It's a great piece of riding, staying within the new rules but he's a horseman who has great power in his body and he uses it." He uses his legs, keeps a short hold of him and taps him on the shoulder.

Why wily Kiely might be able to outgun the Mullins battalions (Racing Post)

If we turn the clock back to the start of the century when Noel Meade was consistently the champion trainer in Ireland and Gordon Elliott was still.

Everything has gone to plan with him in his prep and with a bit of luck in running he can run a big race. If the race isn't run to suit, we're at the mercy of what happens in front of us. I'd say he has improved a lot from his win at Gowran as he was green in the early stages. If they go quick enough and stop in front of him he might be able to pick them up. It was a real staying performance that day and hopefully he will be coming up the hill well. He's opted to ride Fact To File and I'm delighted to ride It's For Me. He's got all the attributes for it and I'm hopeful of a good run. He is a good horse if he brings his A-game. He's won his only bumper at Plumpton and has improved. The Gigginstown-owned King Of Kingsfield was underwhelming at Leopardstown last time behind Fascile Mode but looked a smart prospect at Down Royal on his previous start. Of course, that win came in a bumper with Candy Creek at the 2009 Grand National meeting. The trainer has always gone about his business quietly and doesn't send horses to Britain often.

Could chase form prove the key in another competitive Coral Cup? (Racing Post)

Horses switching from one discipline to another is a theme in the handicaps on Wednesday. Last year's winner Global Citizen and Dads Lad return to.

He's in great form, has taken the race well and the ground will suit. This is a step up in class but we're hoping for a good run. He was a shade unlucky at Punchestown last time as the winner got a run on us. The masterplan was the Morebattle, this is just a very nice bonus. He ran a big race in the Stayers' two years ago but I think this trip will suit him better. He has a lot of weight but a lot of class too. He ran at Ascot last time and the bigger fences there might have just got to him and frightened him, so we thought a run over hurdles would do him good. That said, he ran very well on softer ground in this race and at Punchestown last year. I don't think rain is a big issue but he might be a bit better on better ground. He unseated rider at the first on his chase debut at Exeter and then jumped poorly when last of four behind Sebastopol in a Grade 2 at Newbury. He won that race two years ago before taking fourth in the Stayersโ€™ Hurdle. Horses switching from one discipline to another is a theme in the handicaps on Wednesday.
