The programme is given a permanent base in 2018 with The Blue Base opening its doors to house the charity’s older person’s provision. In 2015, Everton in the Community launched a joint initiative with Edge Hill University to support children and young people aged six to 16-years with a sport, physical activity and education-based mental health programme. It begins a five-year fundraising campaign with the aim to generate income for the build and sustained development of the building. A year later, ‘Inside Right’ launches to provide wellbeing support to veterans through physical activity and in 2014, a women’s only mental wellbeing programme called Girls on Side is introduced to the charity’s delivery. To date, the programme has supported more than 700 veterans as its current guise of Everton Veterans’ Hub. The People’s Place will cater for a range of activities around sport, education and employment, all of which are proven to improve mental health.
