BOHS BOUNCED BACK from Friday night's bitterly disappointing derby day defeat to Shelbourne with a hard fought victory over previously unbeaten Drogheda United.
It seemed attack was the best form of defence for the home side and six minutes after the restart doubled their advantage. On-loan frontman Freddie Draper took full advantage of a James Talbot error, bundling home for his first of the season. Jordan Flores, operating at left back, struck home yet another stunning free kick, similar to his opener against Dundalk just a couple of weeks previous.
Bohemians returned to winning ways at a packed Dalymount Park following a hard-earned win over a very well organised Drogheda United side.
Flores' whipped cross was only half dealt with by Emmanuel Adegboyega, eventually falling kindly to the Scotsman who powered home from close range. Mirroring a basketball game, both sides were guilty of missing good chances to take the lead. The sold-out home section roared their side to three points with goals from Jordan Flores, Ali Coote and James Akintunde ensuring all three points stayed in Phibsboro and kept the side second in the table.

But it was from a free-kick that Bohs took the lead, after Akintunde — who combined well with Afolabi at times — was scythed down. But there was no lack of energy from the visitors who, after surrendering position and territory in the opening ten minutes or so, went toe to toe for the remainder of the game. Two games in the space of 72 hours are particularly hard for part-timers, a status Bohs turned their back on in the close-season while Drogheda continue to double-job. Despite Friday’s defeat, Bohs started the game in second, with Drogheda just a point and a place behind. Bohs donned their new change strip — from which some of the profits go to football projects in the West Bank — for the first time against Shelbourne last Friday and lost. His 30-yard free-kick opened the scoring and further goals from Ali Coote and James Akintunde — his first for the club — followed Freddie Draper’s equaliser.
