Tonight, she was the guest of Ryan Tubridy on the Late Late Show on RTÉ television and you could hear a pin drop when she spoke of her emotions on Glasgow's southside. “I lobby every camp but this was the first camp anyone actually listened to me, so I’m very grateful,” Amber said of getting the chance as a second half substitute.

Every year, I go back from football to my uncle, who is still living in Creeslough. "Now they have something to dream for, and I'm so happy to be part of this team. There's been a sombreness to me, these last few days. To all their families, because I know they touched their lives. I've not been able to put into words about it. They certainly touched ours. Both of my grandparents were Creeslough, born and bred. Amber was named WNL Player of the Season in 2017 and was top goalscorer in 2016, 2017 and 2018. The country was devastated by the tragedy and Amber dedicated the win to the community she loves so well. When her brilliant goal made history and sent Ireland to the World Cup, Amber took the opportunity to dedicate the moment to the small Donegal village of Creeslough. The Donegal native has been a force to be reckoned with in the world of football for some time but gained massive attention, both at home and abroad, when her goal in a match against Scotland last October resulted in Ireland qualifying for the international tournament.

Late Late viewers 'got emotional' on Friday night over Irish footballer Amber Barrett's 'eloquent and humble' interview with Ryan Tubridy.

'When the GAA club St Michael's started a girls team, I had an opportunity to go down because my grandad gave the chairman a little wink at the time. It's bringing a lot of that day back. 'Dad being a guard, news started to filter to his phone. I said I'm always good for a goal and she said "you know I know that",' she told Ryan. It's not until you know people from small villages that you understand the depth and the damage that was done... 'I can distinctly remember the table we were sitting at... She explained: 'During camp, Vera always gives one day for our families to come in. Spent a lot of my time and childhood there, had a really strong relationship with my grandparents. I know if my granny and grandad were alive, I know the filling station that would have been the filling station they went to collect the pension and papers. I still think it was one of the proudest moments my grandad had was when I was playing for St Michael's. 'That's something I take with me, not just thinking about Cresslough in terms of now. 'I lobby every camp [to play] but this is the first camp that Vera actually listened to me.

It came just days after the horrific tragedy in Creeslough which claimed the lives of ten people. Her celebration afterwards in which she clutched her black armband (pictured above) in memory of those who died said it all. Amber is also expected to speak about Creeslough and her emotional ties with the village.
