FA Cup Odds: Leicester vs. Blackburn prediction, pick, how to watch ... (ClutchPoints)

The Foxes and the Rovers match up in an important FA Cup fixture! Read our FA Cup odds series with a Leicester-Blackburn prediction and pick.

If manager Jon Dahl Tomasson would like to snatch this win and proceed in the next round, he will have to deal with a long injury list. Brendan Rodgers’s side have registered two wins and two draws in the last four matchups against Blackburn. Blackburn carries a hotter win streak while Leicester has the advantage on key statistics. Their last three fixtures in the Championship resulted in wins, snatching victories over Swansea, Blackpool, and Queens Park Rangers. The Foxes are currently in a two-game losing skid, going scoreless in the last two games against Manchester United and Arsenal. With their current position, a win in the promotion play-offs may send Blackburn back into England’s top flight. In their FA Cup run, they won against Norwich City and Birmingham City. Harvey Barnes has put up eight goals for the club while Kelechi Iheanacho and Jamie Vardy have produced four assists each in the Prem. After winning their famous title in 2016, Leicester have only added two trophies – the FA Cup and Community Shield which were both obtained in 2021. The Blackburnians carry a nine-game unbeaten streak across all competitions and hope to preserve that momentum here in the FA Cup. Leicester hopes to regain the FA Cup trophy after two years. The former 2016 Premier League Champions have been far from their championship run but they hope to secure another silverware in this tourney.

Leicester City vs Blackburn Rovers LIVE (Accrington Observer)

Live updates from the King Power Stadium as Blackburn Rovers face Leicester City for a place in the FA Cup quarter-finals.

Hello and welcome to live coverage of Blackburn Rovers' trip to the King Power Stadium. Rovers are trying to draw Leicester onto them and use Dolan's pace on the break to hurt them. Look a threat on the break. Szmodics in the end snuffed out by Amartey. There is the fine lines playing out against this opposition. Morton's touch is heavy in midfield, Leicester pinch it and break. Dangerous corners whipped in and they've got Leicester defending for their lives. Szmodics squares it for Dolan to tap in and somehow Iversen saves it. Interesting that Barnes appears to be following Rankin-Costello when he wanders from right-back. Jon Dahl Tomasson's side will be confident after knocking West Ham United out of the Carabao Cup in December. They'll be backed by over 2,500 away fans as Rovers look to make it a memorable night. He should have buried it.

Leicester visit Southampton in the Premier League, live on Saturday Night Football; kick off 5.30pm. The rebound, though, fell kindly for Praet who should have done better than fire straight at Pears. Amartey's attempt to play out was reckless and ill-advised as his pass was cut out by the forward, who arrowed towards goal and beat Iversen from the edge of the box. Not that Rovers were undeserving winners. Blackburn had grown into the game as the Foxes' threat waned and the haphazard nature of the hosts' defending was a serious cause for concern. Match report as Tyrhys Dolan and Sammie Szmodics capitalised on some poor Leicester defending to see Blackburn through to the FA Cup quarter-finals; Kelechi Iheanacho pulled a goal back for the hosts; Brendan Rodgers marked his 200th game in charge with the Foxes

Marks out of ten for Blackburn Rovers players after their FA Cup fifth-round tie with Leicester City.

He was the man who won the ball back and then produced a great assist for Szmodics to double the score. N/A Overall, a good performance from the Liverpool loanee. Despite the misses, he knitted the play together really cleverly and offered good width. Looks comfortable doing the ugly side of the game but was caught on the ball a few times which Leicester nearly scored from. He covered every single blade of grass, won the ball back on countless occasions and drove his team up the pitch. He has been a phenomenal signing for the club. A man mountain at the back. Brilliant alongside Carter and a real leader in the defence. He was taken off in the second half with an injury but, hopefully, that's just a precaution. Leicester piled on the pressure with Inheanacho's curling shot palmed away by Pears but Rovers did not buckle. The high press caught Leicester out and as they gifted possession, Dolan drove towards goal and fired them ahead.

FA Cup Match Report: Leicester City 1 - 2 Blackburn Rovers (Fosse Posse)

Goals on either side of halftime by Tyrhys Dolan and Sammie Szmodics gave the Foxes a huge hill to climb. Substitute and resident King of the FA Cup Kelechi ...

However, “chaos” was our best chance to get back in the match (as opposed to “trying to break down a packed defence”), and City got one back on 65’. It would have been three almost immediately afterwards as Amartey was again beaten by Szmodics, but the extremely busy Iversen came to the rescue and turned the ball around the post with his knee. The rest of the half was marked by sloppy passes, players not on the same page as each other, and Rovers lying deep and daring a Maddison- and Tielemans-free Leicester side to break them down. For the rest of is, it was tough to watch. Instead of shooting, he squared it for Tyrhys Dolan who turned it goalwards, but Iversen made a spectacular save when you were sure the back of the net was going to bulge. The big man slid it to Szmodics in the middle, who somehow dribbled directly through Ricardo and then Amartey (not around them; I meant what I said), and slotted home from close range. In our tradition of failing to heed warning klaxons, Amartey was not to be denied. The midfielder bore down on Iversen and his shot looked goal bound, but the Great Dane 2.0 stuck out a leg and made the save. His shot cleared a sea of legs but Pears did well again to make the second save in quick succession. The Lancashire side had a great chance to take the lead on 17’ when Amartey was caught in possession on the right flank. The Foxes came out of the gates with an intermittently effective high press, signalling intent to keep the Championship side under pressure. Substitute and resident King of the FA Cup Kelechi Iheanacho got one back, but City couldn’t find an equaliser to keep their cup run alive.

The Foxes boss gave his verdict on a disappointing night for his side after Blackburn Rovers knocked them out of the FA Cup.

We thoroughly deserved to lose the game.” But sadly we didn’t have the quality and that grit when defending to win the game. When you do have it, look after it and let’s see if we can play at speed to create opportunities. “I’m really disappointed for the supporters. Leicester City's circus-like defending vs Blackburn Rovers (Foxes of Leicester)

Leicester City crashed out the FA Cup with a home defeat to Championship club Blackburn Rovers. Humiliating: here is how circus-like defending failed us.

Giving the ball away for multiple opportunities on goal, with these poorly timed and poorly executed attempts to pass the ball. He lost possession 15 times, and would at least try to win it back or prevent any dangerous opportunity coming from it: this would often not lead to anything beneficial for LCFC. Meanwhile, the Ghanaian centre-back is a positional nightmare. He put in challenges after challenges, tackles, after tackles, and would always attempt to rectify any mistake. Personally, I had felt the English left-back and Portuguese beast Ricardo Pereira deserved an opportunity to play. I felt severely let down by individual players, and the stats show it.
