Bristol City v Manchester City: Where, when and how to watch ... (Independent.ie)

Manchester City are expected to seal a place in the FA Cup quarter-finals as they travel to face Bristol City tonight.

In Ireland, Premier Sports is part of the ‘Sports Extra’ pack which also contains BT Sport channels. Man City have only won the FA Cup once since Guardiola arrived in England, which is surprising, given their dominance domestically. It's likely either will be risked at Ashton Gate Stadium, but Kalvin Phillips should be afforded a rare start.

Fulham v Leeds: FA Cup fifth round – live (The Guardian)

Minute-by-minute report: Join Daniel Gallan for updates from the fifth-round tie at Craven Cottage.

74 mins: Leeds try to play the ball out from a goalkick but Pereira is quickly on to it and wins the ball back inside Leeds’ box. “This is the first time I’ve looked forward to a second half of a Leeds game since the Chelsea game back in August. Brighton are such good fun for the neutral this season, it must be brilliant to be a fan.” He picks up the piefes of a long cross and plays a swift one-two with Mitrovic and he cuts across the goal. He’s picked out by a neat through ball from Rutter (formerly referred to as Georginio) but the shot lacks power to drill past the ‘keeper. Hard to pick which is the better of the two. 76 mins: Leeds finally string a few passes together and it makes its way to Harrison on the left. Leeds might have had a penalty for a high kick inside the box. It all started with a break down the left. He puts in a ball at the near post but Koch can’t keep his effort down. Harrison is having a great spell down the left. 81 mins: That’s a chance for Koch at the near post.

Some of the best FA Cup moments in history have occurred under ... (The Guardian)

In today's Football Daily: Midweek FA Cup magic, Nigel Pearson and more.

A few years back when I worked for a well known parcel delivery company, I was tasked with a special journey to deliver a parcel to the home of Liverpool’s Lucas Leiva. I tried to use the excuse of it being cold outside to said player but even though he didn’t seem to fall for it he still laughed it off” – Pete Cody. “There is a part of me that realises I’m not the easiest to work with at times … I wasn’t actually aware of the recipient’s name until after I got strangely selected by my boss to carry out this task. I’m a lot more thoughtful than I’ve been in the past and able to look at things in a different way. That’s if Pep’s performance in the pre-match press conference is anything to go by, given he spent most of it going out of his way to patronise Manchester United in the wake of their League Cup glory. The place: Annfield Park, Stirling, for a local derby between the mighty Albion and Stenhousemuir. Similar excitement this time is surely not beyond the realms, given that Bristol City are on a run of 12 matches without defeat, while Manchester City go into the game with one eye on the title race, the other on that elusive Big Cup. The Robins surprisingly have the historical upper hand over the Citizens, 10-9 up in wins, and although they’ve lost all of the last four meetings, a sequence that stretches back to 1980, they gave Pep Guardiola’s side a run for their money in the 2018 Coca-Cola Cup semis. So let’s embrace this new-fangled state of affairs, which you may as well do as it’s surely here to stay now, or at least until the FA Cup is abolished in 2031 by decree of all four members of the new streamlined Premier League (Newcastle Football Concern, Consolidated Mancunian, London Weekend and PSG). The plum tie of the fifth round – in the old-fashioned sense of having potential shock value, as opposed to the modern one of being exactly the same sort of fixture you get week in, week out on Sky – is relegation-haunted Saints versus fourth-tier Grimsby. Let’s be honest, most of the best FA Cup moments in history occurred under lights in the middle of the week anyway.

They've already knocked out Bournemouth from the FA Cup, and they performed admirably against Manchester United in the fourth round of the EFL Cup, defeated 2-0 in a game they out-shot their Premier League opponents 11-10 but struggled to finish chances. And for knockout competition, they don't have to beat Premier League sides over the course of a long season, but instead just a few games where anything can happen. While City this season have not yet shown they can consistently win on days they don't have their best, they are still one of the best sides in the league. It has been 43 years since a team from the lower divisions won the FA Cup, but if there's ever a chance for that to happen, it's now. In the 2023 competition, which has reached the Round of 16, all that could change. In fact, a lower-tier club has not won the FA Cup since West Ham in 1980.

Manchester City into FA Cup quarter-finals as Foden bares teeth in ... (The Guardian)

Manchester City brushed aside their Championship opponents, winning 3-0 thanks to a Phil Foden double and a late strike from Kevin De Bruyne.

Phillips rattled the crossbar with 63 seconds on the clock with a shot from outside the box and although the hosts then settled Manchester City took the lead on seven minutes. The longer the hosts stayed in the game, the more they grew in belief. Guardiola’s opposition scout advised him to expect an awkward evening and the Spaniard finished his homework on the Championship side poring over some clips on the flight south to Bristol on Tuesday. It did not stop Pearson and Guardiola, who were in deep in discussion at full time, chewing the fat over a glass of wine. The sight of De Bruyne and Rico Lewis booting the ball clear amid second-half pressure told part of the story. Scott was one of five academy graduates to start and two more arrived from the bench.

But it was all over when De Bruyne played a wonderful through ball to Nathan Ake before Alvarez helped it on to Foden, and the Belgium midfielder ensured he would have the last word from 20 yards. The temperature was rising both on and off the pitch as the contest became more balanced and Bristol City fans urged their players to seize the moment. Riyad Mahrez worked a clever one-two with De Bruyne and the Algerian’s cross to the far post was swept high into the net by Foden, who scored for the second successive game.

Where does Leeds United's excitement come from now they're out of ... (The Athletic)

Modern football decrees that the league is king but there is something uniquely tingling about a cup run coming over the horizon.

[Newcastle United](https://theathletic.com/football/team/newcastle-united/), QPR, [Crystal Palace](https://theathletic.com/football/team/crystal-palace/) and [Wolves](https://theathletic.com/football/team/wolverhampton-wanderers/), a gradual burn that left them 11 minutes from defeat in the last four. You get [Cardiff](https://theathletic.com/football/team/cardiff-city/), you get Accrington Stanley and then, last night, you have [Fulham](https://theathletic.com/football/team/fulham/) away for a place in the quarter-finals. [February 28, 2023] [Georginio Rutter](https://theathletic.com/football/player/georginio-rutter-IHuS65YrmV7QsduK/)’s early tap-in fell foul of a very soft push from Weston McKennie in [Harry Wilson](https://theathletic.com/football/player/harry-wilson-Lpl9IitBvRNhzlIX/)’s back. By the time McKennie’s shot was blocked by [Patrick Bamford](https://theathletic.com/football/player/patrick-bamford-czY2QtojCov58GYm/) in the closing minutes, the rebound flying wide off the American’s shin from a distance of a few yards, it was evident Leeds’ luck was out and, evidently, it was not their night. He had Leeds to lift the FA Cup at 40/1. It might have been that finishing 11th with [Watford](https://theathletic.com/football/team/watford/) in 2019 mattered more to Gracia but the FA Cup, as he said, is where everyone can live a little. It is not a doddle but it is not asking the earth either. [with rare exceptions for most clubs](https://theathletic.com/1901739/2020/07/18/marcelo-bielsa-the-inside-story-of-a-leeds-love-affair-that-made-dreams-come-true/), many of them blend into one. For Gracia, reaching the FA Cup final began with a win at Woking and him trading a bottle of Sangria for a bottle of Newcastle Brown Ale with Woking’s manager, Alan Dowson. He was on the fence, Elland Road was electric, Leeds were in the quarter-finals and a cup run took hold without anyone truly seeing it coming. The interest was such that the Yorkshire Evening Post captured photographs of people with no tickets sitting on the roof of a nearby building. They were Division Two play-off finalists and semi-finalists in the FA Cup, a club on a roll.

Blackburn shock Leicester to reach FA Cup quarter-finals | Anglo Celt (Anglo Celt)

Rovers won 2-1 to reach the last eight for the first time since 2015.

The rebound, though, fell kindly for Praet who should have done better than fire straight at Pears. Amartey’s attempt to play out was reckless and ill-advised as his pass was cut out by the forward, who arrowed towards goal and beat Iversen from the edge of the box. Harvey Barnes found space for the first time and pulled back for Iheanacho to net his now customary FA Cup goal from close range. Not that Rovers were undeserving winners. Blackburn had grown into the game as the Foxes’ threat waned and the haphazard nature of the hosts’ defending was a serious cause for concern. Tyrhys Dolan and Sammie Szmodics cashed in on awful defending to clinch a 2-1 win and send Rovers into the last eight for the first time since 2015.

Brighton had been dominating possession and they would make the breakthrough as Kaoru Mitoma ran on to Dunk's excellent through-ball and laid a delightful pass of his own to Ferguson, who tapped in.
