On a sunny plinth today, Labour's Ged Nash says that the Government's cost of living supports are "as well targeted as a Darwin Nunez shot from outside the box". Labour TD Ged Nash has caught some flak on social media for using an elaborate football analogy to talk about the Government.

On the day that the coalition is set to announce new measures to combat the issue, the Louth TD compared their efforts are 'as well targeted as a Darwin Nunez shot from outside the box'. Deputy Nash, however, feels that the wayward shooting of the Uruguay star is the perfect comparison point for the Government's reaction to the cost of living crisis. The Uruguayan has garnered a lot of criticism for his erratic shooting and inconsistent performances, but the 23-year-old has nevertheless bagged 11 goals already for the Reds.

It certainly did seem like an odd attempt from the TD to show that he was 'down with it'. There were two types of disapproval doing the rounds online. [February 21, 2023] To get that point across, At 23-years old and having grown in consistency in recent weeks, you'd imagine it won't be too long before he starts to find the back of the net with far more frequency. He is very unpolished at times, but when it comes together he looks like someone who could be a top class forward.
