Reporter believes Nottingham Forest are monitoring Celtic man (Seat Pitch)

Australian sports reporter Andy Maher believes that Nottingham Forest are monitoring Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou.

Maher has made quite the claim about Postecoglou. It appears that the club are fighting a losing battle to keep him, however. They don’t have a proper manager and haven’t won a game in any competition since November, with Jesse Marsch recently getting the boot. Forest might have to worry about a contingency plan though. They look certain to retain their Scottish Premiership title and are still fighting it out to win the two cup competitions in Scotland. The Aussie head coach has been a revelation at Celtic.

Ange Postecoglou admits the 50/50 split at Hampden will make Sunday's showdown with Rangers a better derby than previous clashes.

I enjoy the hard graft when you're building a team, you're in the trenches and it's coming at you from all angles. "When I talk to them about trying to make every game the best game of their career, there is nothing that says that can't happen. As I said, from when I started 26 years ago, I wanted to be a successful manager and you won't last very long in the game if you're not successful. You don't just miss the big games or the big moments, you miss it all. "You miss training, you miss the bad days, the bad coaches, you'd have it all back. But winning things are very rare even for the most successful coaches even if you win something every year. He was then asked if he sees the game as a big opportunity to add another trophy to his burgeoning collection having already won the league and this trophy last season. But he said: "I treat every game as an opportunity, I say that to the players. I think the players enjoy that because you get a bit of everything in there." [Celtic](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/all-about/celtic-fc) fans - not just the cup finals. "For the home team I think that's an advantage. Obviously when we play at Ibrox or Celtic Park, the atmosphere is very parochial in one way.

It is par for the course and you have to embrace that part of it and understand that it is a different week. If you want to shout abuse, you have to do that, and if you want to lose yourself in delirium, you have to do that. It is not just about the fact that the pitch stops us from playing our football, the pitch is part of the event, and the stadium is part of the event. It doesn’t carry on to this final and the responsibility you have representing this football club as the manager means that we have got to a cup final and there is a chance for us to win it. Don’t just use it as a game where you get the win and get it out of the way because you could be missing a little nugget of gold that will make it all worth it and give you comfort on the days when it’s all gone.” This is not a normal week and you have got to embrace the fact that it is a cup final week. You enjoy that part of it but for me, it is more about making sure the players are prepared for the challenge that lies before them at the weekend. They have helped us not just in terms of matches but in training also as the levels and the quality of our training have been raised. Other times one team is pretty dominant but what you do know is that it is a game of great consequence and both teams will be up for it and it will be a fantastic atmosphere. We feel that we had a good first half of the year to be fair but we have consistently improved in recent weeks. It is a cup final and there is a trophy on the line. It is one of three on offer domestically and you want to make sure that we are ready for the day and that we perform well and hopefully, we get the job done.”

The Parkhead boss is confident his side can see off their rivals as he insists he's losing no sleep over who will start.

At the same time, we understand that domestically there are three trophies on offer and if you can get to a final that gives you a chance to win one and we want to in it because there are not guarantees you’ll be in it next year. “So our focus is on preparing and being ready for it and trying to be really strong on the day. If we get the job done, then great. What we have seen, particularly since the start of the year, is that irrespective of who starts, we’ll finish strong because the guys coming are making a big contribution.” The whole pitch thing is not just a challenge, this is an event to showcase our football. And Postecoglou, who was speaking at the National Stadium ahead of the final, said: “It’s definitely in better condition than it was on semi-final day and, hopefully with the weather holding out over the next few days, it should still be in much better condition. Obviously I want to win, but you want to win a game that people talk about. Turnbull and Mooy will train through the week so as we sit right here right now they should be available.” Postecoglou, meanwhile, doesn’t feel the outcome of Sunday’s encounter will have any notable effect on the season afterwards. When we lost the semi-final last year, it didn’t derail our determination to be champions. Postecoglou wants his stars to embrace the spotlight and the pressure and get the job done at Hampden come Sunday.

It’s one of those games where whatever is required, we’ve got to find a way to win the game. But again, you saw the willingness in the group to not just accept their fate. Maybe for some of them but I’ve never found that as a good way to sort of chart your course in whatever you do in life, because if you wait for something to happen to you to be motivated then there’s something missing. “For me, the fact that it’s a game where there’s a trophy on the line, that’s enough, you don’t need anything else. They got the better of us in extra time. “The players are human beings and they understand what’s at stake at the weekend and the possibility of winning a trophy. You don’t need to have felt pain or some other emotion to consequently get yourself up for a game like this. “I’ve found over the course of time that big games are big games. It didn’t go to plan for Celtic as the Hoops lost in extra-time last April but Postecoglou insists that memory is not needed as any motivation this time around. But he does have Hampden experience of the derby fixture after the teams met in last season’s Scottish Cup semi-finals. I’ve found that’s the best way to handle these games.
