The Toffees lost their next game to Liverpool but in a relegation six-pointer against the Leeds on Saturday, came out on top to escape the drop zone by a point. Relegation rivals Everton, Leeds United and Southampton have all made recent changes at the managerial position and have seen somewhat of a new-manager bounce. “I am really fortunate that [the board] have recognised the good work which has gone on in the last three years, which is probably the reason I am getting such good support.” At the start of January, Moyes said the club were behind him and were showing him the support needed to turn things around, while admitting losses lead to jobs being under pressure. With speculation mounting that the east London outfit could part ways with the Scot, football.london is of the understanding that no change in the dugout will be made and that Moyes' job is currently safe.

Another anomaly emerges with goals from crosses: zero in the Premier League so far. The most glaring issue is up top: West Ham should have scored nearly 30 goals but have only converted 19, according to expected goals (xG). The Jamaica international notched eight league assists from an expected-assist (xA) estimate of five during a fruitful campaign last term. Moyes has deployed a 4-2-3-1 system in 11 league games this term but dabbled with three at the back, a 4-3-3 and four other formations - and still relies heavily on the players that helped his side earn a seventh-placed finish last season. Danny Ings was signed in January, in a move many pointed to as shrewd, before injury almost immediately sidelined the striker.

And so, more than a month after his arrival ahead of a similarly vital clash with Everton, Ings must surely be handed a first start. But, with his position under immediate scrutiny once more, his manager has no time to wait for it to be realised — and three goals in 16 League games does not breed confidence in a pay-off were Moyes to go against his usually cautious instincts by rushing a player back. The question ahead of Saturday's must-win game against Nottingham Forest is not whether one of that pair should start, but which?
