Ryan Tubridy remains the highest earner within RTÉ, with the broadcaster publishing their highest presenter earnings for 2020 and 2021 on Wednesday.

Ms O'Callaghan was fifth in the top-10 list and Mr O'Connor was sixth. Two of the top 10 earners from 2019 are no longer with the organisation, with Marian Finucane passing away in January of 2020 and Seán O'Rourke retiring in the spring of the same year. host Joe Duffy is second in the list with a 2021 annual earning of €351,000, down from €360,650 in 2020 and €392,494 in 2019.

RTÉ on Wednesday released information on fees earned by its ten highest-paid presenters in 2020 and 2021.

Tubridy's media company, Tuttle Productions Ltd, was paid €440,000 in 2021 for the Late Late Show presenter's services. Among the highest-paid in 2020 was again D'Arcy (€305,000), O'Callaghan (€263,000), O'Connor (€238,753), Dobson (€217,332), Wilson (€204,537), and Moloney (€190,804), as well as Áine Lawlor (€183,662). The other high-earners in 2021 included Ray D'Arcy (€305,000), Miriam O'Callaghan (€263,000), Brendan O'Connor (€245,004), Bryan Dobson (€209,282), Mary Wilson (€196,961), Darragh Maloney (€183,738) and George Lee (€179,131).

Our presenters play an important role in RTÉ's provision of vital news, information and entertainment to audiences right across the country and enable us to generate commercial revenue which is essential to fund RTÉ's public services. Over the past 15 years RTÉ has reduced these fees by c. Miriam O’Callaghan was named the fifth highest-paid presenter with an annual salary of €263,500, €56,500 less than the €320k she earned in 2019. Joe Duffy was named the second highest-paid presenter with a salary of €351,000 in 2021, the Liveline presenter earned €392,494 in 2019.

Claire Byrne and Brendan O'Connor receive pay rises after inheriting key Radio 1 shows, list of top 10 on-air fees and salaries confirms.

While the first six presenters in the top 10 for 2021 are all contractors, the remaining four are employees of the State-owned broadcaster. The top 10 pay bill, which represents less than 1 per cent of its total operating costs, fell 16 per cent in 2020 to €2.71 million. In 2019, she earned €320,000 from RTÉ, but this fell to €263,500 in the two subsequent years. Byrne, who succeeded Sean O’Rourke as the presenter of Radio 1’s mid-morning current affairs programme in August 2020, saw her fees increase from €250,000 in 2019 to €282,917 in 2020 and then €350,000 in 2021. This dropped to €360,650 in 2020 and then €351,000 in 2021, or a decline of about 10.6 per cent over the two years. Ray D’Arcy, who was the second-highest paid individual at RTÉ in 2019, saw his fees drop from €450,000 that year to €305,000 in 2020 and 2021, reflecting the fact that his Saturday night chat show came to an end.

Over the past 15 years RTE has reduced these fees by circa 40 per cent. Marian Finucane was the fourth highest earner in 2019. And it sees the star drop from being the second top earner in 2019, to the fourth highest paid in 2021.
