What are the teams for Ireland v France? (Six Nations Rugby)

The world's top two sides will face off in Dublin in a titanic clash as Ireland play host to Grand Slam champions France.

It is a similar story for Couilloud, who has been out since December, but is now fit and gets the nod over Le Garrec, another unused replacement in Rome, who will have to wait a little longer for his Test debut. Fabien Galthié has been remarkably consistent with his team selection since taking over as France coach and that has not changed for the trip to take on the world’s top side. James Ryan, 6. James Lowe, 10. The world’s top two sides will face off in Dublin in a titanic clash as Ireland play host to Grand Slam champions France in Round 2 of the Guinness Six Nations. The hooker came off the bench in Cardiff and will now wear the No.2 jersey, as he did four times during the 2021 Championship.

Ireland v France: Rob Herring in starting line-up for crucial Six ... (The Irish Times)

Dan Sheehan ruled out with hamstring injury, the fourth player to do so in training in last fortnight.

In that regard, any type of victory against a side like that is going to be a big performance.” Rob has always added to our performance, let’s put it that way and I also think he can do a good job in this type of game for us.” “When you get to the World Cup, you’ve a smaller squad. Obviously he’s a fantastic player at the top of his form. Indeed Sheehan has started nine of Ireland’s last 10 Tests, the only exception being when on the bench against Fiji, and in those 10 games has averaged over 65 minutes per game. Stuart McCloskey starts at inside centre for the fifth Irish Test in a row this season, with Bundee Aki again named on the bench.

We are looking at options at eight if Toby (Taulupe) Faletau picks up an injury, so Jac gets that chance. Rhys Webb (Ospreys – 37 caps) Rhys Carre (Cardiff Rugby – 18 caps) Joe Hawkins (Ospreys – 2 caps) “We need to start better. Porter, Ryan and Kilcoyne are set to earn their 50th caps for Ireland against France at the weekend. “Dafydd Jenkins comes into the second-row, looking a bit to the future. “Obviously the last time I was in the England scrum it didn’t go so well. Caelan Doris, Josh van der Flier and Peter O’Mahony continue as the backrow unit. Ireland captain Johnny Sexton and Conor Murray will line out for Ireland at half-back with Stuart McCloskey and Garry Ringrose continuing their partnership in midfield. "Everyone is looking forward to this. “Anyone would miss a player in that type of form.

Ireland v France: Six Nations preview as Andy Farrell's men set to ... (planetrugby.com)

The favourites for this year's Six Nations Championship, Ireland, take on the defending champions France in a huge clash at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

Doris will be a bit more conservative in an Ireland team that will be patient and quite content to wait for the opportunity to arise. The French have been on the decline since the start of the Autumn Nations Series and were very poor against Italy. Ireland will also be praying that Johnny Sexton stays fit and is on the field for the majority of the match. The 29-year-old is one of a few French players just short of their best at the moment. With two-thirds of Ireland’s first choice front-row absent, there is onus on Rob Herring and Finlay Bealham to create a solid platform in the set-piece. In a team which is centred around Leinster and their connections, those three players all feature for different provinces, so that is an area Les Bleus will look to exploit. Alldritt, however, likes to off-load out of the tackle once he has made that ground through the middle, getting his hands free for his support runners to charge on to. Ireland were incredibly efficient against Wales in the way they moved the point of contact, looking so effortless and comfortable in doing so. France, thanks to the two-footed Antoine Dupont, tend to kick long, while Ireland, using Murray’s box-kicking, like to compete for the ball in the air. It is whether the bigger French units can halt their opponents at source, allowing the likes of Julien Marchand, Anthony Jelonch and Gregory Alldritt a shot at getting over the ball. And the similarities with Les Bleus’ run in 2022 are striking. [ Away matches against Scotland and Wales were potentially tricky but, against teams who were low on confidence, Fabien Galthie’s managed to set up a decisive game with England.](https://www.planetrugby.com/team/France)

Englishman Wayne Barnes will take charge of the match, with assistance coming from Matthew Carley (RFU) and Jordan Way (RA). France set themselves on course for grand slam victory overcoming a well-fancied Ireland 30-24 at the Stade de France. “To do that, this is fundamental: we must continue to work in osmosis with the clubs. Clear understanding of plan crucial - Farrell (BBC Sport)

Ireland head coach Andy Farrell says his side must have "clear understanding of the clarity of the plan" in Saturday's Six Nations game against France.

"It's special to be so consistent to get to 50 caps. We're delighted for all three of them." Physicality isn't just about size, it's about being smart too and I feel we have a group of smart players," argued Farrell. "They all look up to him, whether he knows that or not. This is a big part of their game and the personnel that they have to do that suits them." They do look up to him. "Their defence is very important and breaking them down as a team is very tough. "They could not have done any better. It says a lot about how much the game means to them and how much it means to play for Ireland," said Farrell. "You win collisions by running into space. "We need to play our own game and make sure we are courageous to take our game to them and ask questions of their defence," added Farrell. Ireland head coach Andy Farrell says his side "must have clear understanding of the clarity of the plan" if they are to overcome France in Saturday's Six Nations game against France in Dublin.
