Studio Ghibli's Spirited Away Leaps Into Reality at Nagasaki Lantern ... (CBR)

A real-life lantern festival in Nagasaki, Japan, transports event attendees to the atmosphere of Studio Ghibli's 2001 classic film Spirited Away.

Apart from the first phase's attractions, Ghibli Park plans to open the Mononoke Forest area and the Valley of the Witches in late 2023 and March 2024, respectively. [Spirited Away](https://www.cbr.com/breathtaking-ghibli-fan-art-evokes-spirited-away-memories/) became the first hand-drawn and non-English-language film to win the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. Other Ghibli-themed places include the antique shop from Whisper of the Heart, Yubaba's office from Spirited Away and an elevator tower inspired by Laputa: Castle in the Sky. Studio Ghibli opened Ghibli Park in November, two years behind its projected schedule. While Spirited Away remains a staple in Studio Ghibli's film catalog, Miyazaki has created numerous successful films since its premiere date. A reporter for the outlet recommends the Tojin Grounds in Nagasaki City's Chinatown area as the best location to view the spectacular event.
