4 Kyrie Irving trade ideas with Lakers, Suns, Heat, and Mavericks (SB Nation)

Kyrie Irving has again decided he wants to be traded from the Brooklyn Nets. The star guard asked Brooklyn's front office to trade him on Friday afternoon ...

Will the Nets actually trade Irving this time around? Irving projects as a great on-court fit next to Doncic because he’s an elite ball handler and a great shooter. The first round picks in 2027 and 2029 are the next available draft picks for the Lakers to trade, and would likely have to be unprotected to get Brooklyn to think about biting. The Lakers would then presumably pay Irving a max deal even if that meant paying the luxury tax. Who would possibly want to trade for him and then sign him to a max extension? Kyrie Irving has again decided he wants to be traded from the Brooklyn Nets.

Kyrie is seriously a sideshow at this stage of his career, and this is as much performance art as that time Shai LeBeouf strolled the red carpet The Nets are 31-20 and currently occupy the fourth seed in the East. There’s no reason for them to make a trade other than the fact that they’re negotiating with someone who’s willing to destroy everything for ideals that no one, not even himself, can define. There’s one player in the history of the league that’s been able to corral Irving into seasons of productive basketball, and that’s LeBron James. Durant always chirps about how he just wants to hoop and ignore the chatter. When the news broke that [Irving demanded a trade from the Brooklyn Nets](https://deadspin.com/kyrie-irving-brooklyn-nets-trade-lakers-nba-durant-1850072128) on Friday, the question that followed “Can you fucking believe this guy?” was “Where is he going to end up?”

NBA Intel: Nets star Kyrie Irving draws Lakers, Suns, Mavs, Heat ... (Hoops Hype)

Reporting on Kyrie Irving's Nets trade rumors with the Lakers, Suns, Mavericks and Heat. Plus, Knicks and Jazz trade talks by Michael Scotto.

Vanderbilt and Beasley have also been discussed as part of a trade package with the Atlanta Hawks for forward John Collins. Trail Blazers forward Nassir Little is a name to monitor in the trade talks, HoopsHype has learned. Ironically, while Beasley was meeting with the Timberwolves and on the verge of agreeing to his contract, the current Knicks regime led by Leon Rose called to express interest in signing him, league sources told HoopsHype. In these particular trade talks, Toppin would potentially be that equivalent for Vanderbilt with Utah seeking a potential first-round pick for taking on Fournier’s [salary](https://hoopshype.com/salaries/new_york_knicks/) ($18.86 million next season and $19 million team option for 2024-25) and parting with Beasley, who has a $16.5 million [team option](https://hoopshype.com/salaries/utah_jazz/) for next season. On the court, Irving is talented enough to dramatically increase Dallas’ chances of competing alongside MVP candidate Luka Doncic and be the clear No. Jazz executive Danny Ainge previously traded for Fournier while running the Celtics as well. Harris, a valued core member of Brooklyn’s culture dating back to the Kenny Atkinson era, is owed $19.93 million Brooklyn never saw Westbrook as a logical fit with Ben Simmons during trade talks in the summer, and that thinking wouldn’t change now. This sequence of events was no coincidence to some around the league. Nine days later, after failing to get the desired terms, Irving requested a trade from Brooklyn. Two days later, Irving’s agent, Shetellia Riley Irving, went on the record with Bleacher Report expressing a desire to get an extension done with the Nets. It’s deja vu for the Nets.

Sources: Kyrie Irving asks Nets for trade ahead of deadline (ABC News)

After failing to negotiate terms on a long-term contract extension with the organization, Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving has issued a trade request, ...

The Nets are 31-20 but have lost seven of 11 games since Durant was lost to an MCL sprain. However, neither team appears inclined to make a trade with the expectation of delivering Irving the long-term, max-level contract he is seeking, sources said. Durant had requested an offseason trade before rescinding the request in September. If Irving is traded, he is eligible to sign a two-year, $78.6 million extension with his new team until June 30. Numerous teams are far more interested in how that situation could play out than in trying to inquire on Irving. Dallas general manager Nico Harrison has a long-standing relationship with Irving from his days as a Nike executive, and Mavericks coach Jason Kidd has also had a relationship with Irving.

Kyrie Irving isn't worth risk after shocking trade demand from Nets ... (masslive.com)

The NBA caters to stars perhaps more than any other pro league and there's no better example of that than Kyrie Irving's career progression over the past ...

The NBA is a star’s league but Irving has no longer earned the benefit of the doubt in that role. The problem for the Nets is that Irving’s track record and age now really minimize any kind of value he has. Irving pushed himself out of one contending situation in Cleveland and walked away from another one in [Boston ](https://www.masslive.com/celtics/2023/02/how-kyrie-irving-trade-request-impacts-celtics-trade-deadline-possibilities.html)in order to team up with his best friend and arguably best player on the planet in Brooklyn with Kevin Durant. He’s a defensive liability due to his size and lack of discipline on that end of the floor. They could attempt to call Irving’s bluff, keep him for the year and hope he changes his mind about staying. The problems Brooklyn has had with Irving off the floor have been well documented but the fact remains that his play on the floor is no longer that of a true No.
