Inspirational Shona Heffernan passes away (Waterford News and Star)

BELOVED daughter and sister, Shona Heffernan, of 32 Hillside Drive, Crooke, Passage East, and of Shannagh Bay Nursing Home, Bray, passed away on Wednesday…

By naming this organisation “The Shona Project” I feel like she is, in spite of her illness, creating an impact on the world, and people will know who she is, and that she’s still here.” Her story has inspired so many young women to take better care of themselves and each other, to use their voices to create change and impact and to understand and appreciate how important they are to the world. Some years ago Tammy said of her sister, “I have lost the sister I thought I would share my life with. She wrote: “My sister Shona passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and in the very best of care of the team at St Vincent’s Hospital Dublin. “Shona had a bright future in front of her. In spite of this, we bonded over a shared love of rice pudding, fancy pages and erasers that smelt like strawberries.

Funeral details announced for woman who inspired the Shona ... (Sunday World)

Tributes have continued to pour in for Shona Heffernan, the woman who inspired The Shona Project charity, as her funeral details are announced.

Shona was ill, incapacitated and debilitated, but she was never weak.” She had hopes and dreams just like we all did at that age.” May Shona’s gentle soul Rest in Peace,” another said. "Shona was 15 when she first got ill. Before that point, she was a beautiful young girl with the world at her feet. "On numerous occasions, doctors would tell us her time was nearing an end, only to return the next day and see her cackling with laughter and shouting at the top of her lungs with the type of colourful language that only she would get away with.
