Protesters outside garda station call for release of far-right activist (Irish Examiner)

The anti-migrant campaigner was arrested yesterday morning by officers from the Garda Special Detective Unit.

"Both passengers were driven from a location in Dublin’s South inner city and taken to Cappagh Rd in Finglas, Dublin 11. He is being held under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act. And now there’s people joining our genuine protests with swastika signs — it’s crazy, it’s scary, and the Government are just putting their heads in the sand.” Nobody wants that, and nobody is listening to our actual concerns. Meanwhile, gardaí are appealing for information from a taxi driver who picked up a "white man and a white woman" in their 20s during the early hours of last Friday. it is heartbreaking watching that man trying to get his wife to treatment.

Finglas anti-immigration protest: Garda deploys public order unit on ... (The Irish Times)

Garda operation for protest on Wednesday night represents significant shift in policing tactics.

However, some very vocal anti-immigration protesters based in Finglas appear to have gained a modest following in the area of late. This was despite the fact the man who had been accused of the alleged sexual assault is white and Irish. Other groups of uniformed gardaí created a cordon on Mellowes Road, where the Garda station is situated. Sources said that display of strength on behalf of the Garda was deliberate and intended to dissuade any would-be troublemakers. Other recent anti-immigration protests in Dublin have been met with a Garda response based on traffic management and crowd control. Hundreds of protesters gathered outside Finglas Garda Station in Dublin last night to protest against the arrest of a far‑right activist.

We intend to use the site for a maximum of 12 months. The man was of average height and build and was wearing a red top with blue jeans. The Department of Integration has confirmed that Columb Barracks will be used to accommodate 120 men. The woman had blonde hair and was wearing high boots, a pink blazer and a black jacket. ‘The passengers in the vehicle are described as being a white woman aged in her 20s and a white man, also aged in his 20s. ‘Both passengers were driven from a location in Dublin’s south inner city and taken to Cappagh Road in Finglas, Dublin 11. A small number of masked young men were among the crowd, some of whom arrived on electric bikes. Gardaí confirmed that a man had been arrested. However, gardaí have since confirmed that an Irish white male is their main suspect. ‘I’m gonna say – do what has to be done lads,’ he said in one video. This is a f***ing war. However, one woman was heard saying: ‘If the gardaí don’t protect us, then we’ll take the law into our own hands.’
