A report pointed to an incident during the 2022 Masters where Lowry was visibly frustrated after he felt he was given bad advice.

Two weeks ago at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, Lowry went into the final round tied for the lead but fired a 76 on Sunday, eventually falling by nine shots. The duo teamed up in 2018, their biggest victory coming in the 2019 Open Championship at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland, where Lowry cruised to a six-shot victory for his only major title. The report states Martin and Lowry had lost their “spark” and “chemistry,” even pointing to an incident during the 2022 Masters where

He was the only player who failed to record a point at the recent Hero Cup, finished outside the top 25 in Abu Dbabi and then missed the cut last week in Dubai, triggering the end of his professional relationship with Martin. Martin, who has been on the bag since 2018, was seen as instrumental in helping Lowry capture the biggest title of his career, the '19 Open Championship at Royal Portrush. Ranked 22nd in the world, the Irishman is in the midst of a pedestrian stretch in which he hasn’t posted a top-10 finish since his victory at the BMW PGA Championship last September.

Shane Lowry's Brilliant Caddie Partnership Ends Over Loss Of 'Spark' (Balls.ie)

Shane Lowry has split with caddie Brian 'Bo' Martin, after the pair were set to have lost some of their competitive "spark"

Lowry failed to win a single one of his matches at the inaugural Hero Cup earlier in January, before stumbling to a 76 on the final day at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, when in contention for the win. Last year's Masters tournament at Augusta brought the first signs of tension in what had hitherto been a terrifically successful and friendly relationship. Well done, well done Bo.

The pair worked together as Lowry won the Open Championship in Portrush in 2019 after joining up for the first time at the Portugal Masters in 2018.

"But, yeah, he was great at keeping me in the moment today. He's now become a very good friend of mine. And lucky I got to do that. So he's just, like, he's brought a new lease on life to me. I kept on telling him how nervous I was, how scared I was, how much I didn't want to mess it up, how that I can't -- all I could think about was walking down 18 with a four- or five-shot lead. He is so thrilled.

Duo were together when Lowry won the British Open at Royal Portrush in 2019.

The move to Martin was a fruitful one, as Lowry finished sixth in Portugal in his first week with Martin, and he contended in Spain a few weeks later, finishing second. The Irishman is now ranked 22nd in the world rankings and is currently in the automatic qualification places for the Ryder Cup. However, Lowry has struggled in recent weeks to kick off his 2023 campaign, most recently missing the cut at the Dubai Desert Classic. He kept on my back all day, kept talking to me, he kept in my ear. He also helped Lowry at his most recent victory, the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth last year. He was known for keeping Lowry on level ground during that rollercoaster week.
