Warren Gatland names Wales team for Ireland Six Nations opener (WalesOnline)

Leigh Halfpenny is in to make his first Wales start in 19 months and starts in a back three completed by Josh Adams and Rio Dyer, while Joe Hawkins is in line ...

"The danger for us in Wales is Warren Gatland is back in. "I would say the danger for us in Wales is Warren Gatland is back in there. It's not an image that Gatland has always enjoyed - often baulking at the idea of 'Warrenball'. Thankfully, there's the last man to wear the 12 jersey, Joe Hawkins. The couple, who married in 2019, posted a sweet video on Instagram to announce the news. As for the players, he said: "We know the Welsh teams don't perform particularly well in the URC but put them into a Welsh jersey and everything's different. There has historically been no love lost between Gatland and O'Sullivan, with the Kiwi previously saying of his former assistant: "I have always said that technically he was a good coach but I’d question some of his man-management skills." After naming his first Wales team since 2019, Warren Gatland will hold a press conference shortly to explain his selection decisions. He’s a lovely footballer and I wanted to give him the assurance after the Australia game." "Obviously, if something does happen to Leigh, we’ll make a decision with what happens to that," he added. "The message is people will get an opportunity in this Six Nations. Nine members, meanwhile, were involved in Gatland's last game in charge of Wales against the All Blacks at the 2019 World Cup.

The Wales v Ireland team selection that's the hardest to call for years (WalesOnline)

With Wales kicking-off their Six Nations campaign against Ireland on Saturday, Warren Gatland and his coaching team will be busy finalising their side to ...

In an ideal world there would be a younger second-row with a fair amount of international caps pushing through but this is not the case. His leadership, lineout ability, physicality and all-round nous should cause Ireland problems for the first hour before he gets replaced by a younger model. When recently asked why he has recalled Owen Williams to the squad, he said: "I thought [the] game between Ospreys and Montpellier was a proper game. 6 given his lineout prowess and the extra weight he provides at scrum time, which was recently highlighted by Sam Warburton. During the early days of his reign, Gavin Henson was a player who the New Zealander would move heaven and earth for to get him on the pitch. The more likely selection is probably Ospreys man Kieran Williams, who Gatland has compared to Wales legend Scott Gibbs. Even though he is more comfortable at outside centre, 6ft 5in and 110kg Cardiff man Grady fits the physical mould of centre Gatland has always preferred. Halfpenny may not have the pace he had in his younger days but positionally and defensively he is as good as he's ever been. Well, the other Williams was also outstanding in that particular game, as well as their victory over Leicester Tigers at Welford Road. Both Josh Adams and Liam Williams will undoubtedly be two of the first names on Gatland's team sheet but with Rees-Zammit side-lined he has some thinking to do. This is by far the toughest position to predict. WalesOnline assess the questions Gatland needs to answer ahead of his first team selection since being reappointed head coach:
