Accrington Stanley vs Leeds United Live updates (Leeds Live)

Jesse Marsch's Leeds United head across the Pennines to take on Accrington Stanley in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

However, it might be a bit of a culture shock to the Premier League footballers within the Whites' ranks. It's a tight ground and I'm going to guess that the away changing rooms aren't too glamourous. Marsch has been to the Wham Stadium and he'll know his side will be challenged this afternoon, but he will expect to see his side progress. On paper, Leeds should have more than enough to see off the League One side, but Accrington will be believing in the magic of the cup and they'll be determined to make things as difficult as possible for Jesse Marsch's side. A place in the hat for the fifth round is on the line today and both teams will be confident of claiming it. Marsch hinted during his press conference on Thursday that Rutter could be in line for a debut today and it wouldn't be a surprise to see Sinisterra given the nod, either.

John Coleman, who has been Accrington manager for 22 years across two spells, told the BBC: 'I want to win every game, there's no difference today. They came within an excellent Firpo block of taking the lead, as Meslier struggled to deal with some accurate diagonal long-balls. He picks it up on the edge of the box and holds it up nicely but cannot force a chance. Leeds have made it to the FA Cup fourth round just once in the past 10 years, and were forced to a replay by Cardiff in the third round this year. Accrington have forced a couple of easy saves for Meslier and are enjoying a lot of the ball, but look vunerable when Leeds break. He shoots first time and hits it wide of the post, a poor effort from the new signing after a classy move. It's laid on for him in a bit of space 25 yards out, and the midfielder drills it hard to the far post. Leeds are coming forward with a little more conviction and have started to take control of the game. There have been a couple of strong tackles in the last few minutes, and Tharme had a few words with Bamford that the Leeds striker looked unimpressed by. It's a clever free kick from Leeds as they delay the cross, and the ball works its way across to Rodgers, who is free in the box. The homeside looked energetic throughout the half and caused a lot of problems for Leeds early on. Another clever run from the Leeds striker and he hammers a volley just past the post.

FA Cup fourth round: Accrington Stanley v Leeds – as it happened (The Guardian)

Despite an excellent first-half performance, the League One hosts were ultimately outclassed by their visitors from the top flight.

29 min: Nothing of note comes from the set-piece and Leeds go on the attack again. The teams go into the dressing-room for their half-time brew with Leeds in front courtesy of a real moment of quality from Jack Harrison, whose second goal of the season was a real beauty. There’s a mite too much weight on the delivery and the Colombian can’t quite connect despite stretching every sinew. It’s a very feeble effort that doesn’t trouble Savin in the slightest. Accrington get the ball forward, it’s crossed from the right and breaks kindly for Harvey Rodgers in the penalty area. Bamford rises to his feet with a big grin on his face. The goal came against the run of play following an excellent start by Accrington Stanley, who can be very proud of their first half effort and will be convinced they can claw their way back into this game. 46 min: Shaun Whalley wins a free-kick for his team moments after kick-off, drawing a foul from just inside the Leeds half. Not for the first time in this match, Ilan Meslier comes for the ball but drops it. With Harvey Rodgers playing everyone in white onside, Jack Harrison runs on to a ball down the left channel. A quickfire double from Junior Firpo and Luis Sinesterra put the tie beyond Accrington, who did at least bag a consolation goal when the young substitute Leslie Adekoya scored with his first touch of the game moments after taking to the field. Rather than connect with the bouncing ball he catches Harvey Rodegers with a high boot.

Whites progress to the fifth round. Emirates FA Cup fourth round. Accrington Stanley 1. Leeds United 3 (Harrison 23, Firpo 66, Sinisterra 68). Accrington: Savin ...

Leeds took the lead in the 25th minute, Rasmus Kristensen broke down the right well and found Sam Greenwood. Whites head coach Jesse Marsch named a strong line-up for the foruth round tie. Leeds’ first opportunity of the second half came in the 62nd minute, Kristensen knocked the ball down to Bamford in the Accrington box and he struck narrowly wide into the side netting. The Accrington stopper again came to the rescue for the hosts after Bamford played in substitute Rodrigo who he denied, before also making a great save to prevent Kristensen. Bamford saw a strike saved from a narrow angle as he looked to get his name on the scoresheet, before the forward appeared to be felled in the Accrington box, the referee waved play on and Sinisterra smashed a 25 yard strike against the post. Leeds United progressed to the fifth round of the Emirates FA Cup for the first time in seven years with a 3-1 victory over Accrington Stanley at the Wham Stadium.

Then two goals in two minutes killed the game off. It was in front of the Stanley fans in the Farleys Solicitors Clayton End and it was a fantastic moment for the youngster, who headed over moments later as he looked for a second. Sinisterra added a third, before Accrington had the last word, with 18-year-old substitute Leslie Adekoya turning in his first senior goal. "They were given a real test in a thoroughly entertaining cup tie. That should become more achievable with the expected signing of Weston McKennie from Juventus." That is exactly what Leeds were able to do as they booked their place in the fifth round for the first time in seven years. For over an hour, Stanley were progressive and caused more problems than Leeds might have initially envisaged. It is only the third time they have gone this far in 20 years.
