the bench came on and showed the kind of panel we had - we finished strong." That's just about it from us for the first All-Ireland Club final of the day. Emotional scenes on the pitch. It's wide on the Cusack Stand side. Ballyhale have been round the track before. Paddy Mullen adds another belter from way out the field. Again, just a point between the sides... But Mollloy then slaps one over from the right hand side. Inside final 20 minutes, a smack of a ball between the sides. Cunning has a chance to nip it back to two from 45 metres... A '65 for Ballyhale is the result, TJ Reid to take... And early ball into the Dunloy square causes brief confusion.

Shamrocks are the hottest of favourites for club crown (Kilkenny People)

Less than 12 months after suffering one of the most devastating All-Ireland final defeats in the history of the game the Shamrocks, club hurling's aristoc.

Both he and Darren Mullen look big doubts for the weekend. Despite all their success over the last few years, complacency is not something that tends to interfere with the Ballyhale club. If you want to go back even a little further, it’s not too long ago since the Shamrocks were given a huge fright against Slaughtneil of Derry in the 2020 All-Ireland senior semi-final. Shamrocks were on the back foot for long stages of their Leinster championship victories over Naas and Kilmacud Crokes and even a year previous they required a last minute goal against Offaly side St Rynagh’s in order to avoid a big shock. In saying that though, this looks the perfect opportunity for the Shamrocks to right a few wrongs. That’s something that the current crop of Dunloy players look very well equipped to achieve after already accounting for the likes of Slaughtneil and St Thomas in this year’s competition.

Antrim champions Dunloy were just one point in arrears going into the final 10 minutes.

A Sean Elliott score, plus Cunning’s third free from three, brought it back to two at the turnaround. Adrian Mullen didn’t start because an injury, an obvious loss for the Ballyhale attack, Joey Cuddihy getting them off their mark, scoring after a neat pass from TJ Reid. They finished with 10 different scorers, TJ Reid scoring 0-7, and Cody might well have had a couple more goals had Ryan Elliott not stood in the way.

Dunloy switched to a short puckout strategy in the second half but still got little return from their policy of raining in high ball. As a result of Dunloy moving the chess pieces around the board, it left Evan Shefflin free and his deliveries routinely had the Dunloy rearguard beleaguered. The writing was on the wall in the first half when all the factors were totted up.

For the ninth time, Ballyhale Shamrocks are All-Ireland Hurling Club ... (KCLR Fanzone)

They have done! Kilkenny five in a row champions Shamrocks have secured another All Ireland title.

There was great work from Evan Shefflin, proving he is key to the defensive responsibilities of the Kilkenny Champions, finding Eoin Cody with the chance to put it over his shoulder and separate the side by a single point. Just like the first half, TJ Reid had the first chance of the half from a 65′ and you can rest assured he opened the scoring. Dunloy had a few chances to clear but were punished for some costly mistakes by Eoin Cody who tapped it passed the Dunloy shot stopper. Another high ball into Colin Fennelly allowed Shamrocks to get another one over the bar, before TJ Reid sliced it off the bottom of his stick, over in left half forward position to draw the game. Captain Paul Shields got us level in Croke Park bang on the 12 minute mark, some lovely control of the ball on the stick followed up by a point from play by Oran Quinn. A ninth All Ireland title was on the line for Ballyhale Shamrocks, a chance to create even more history for the Leinster champions.

It was obvious from very early on yesterday that Ballyhale were on a mission of serious atonement after last year’s All-Ireland final defeat to Ballygunner. There had to have been some tension during the fallout but the Ballyhale crew were instrumental in driving Kilkenny to a Leinster title and an All-Ireland final afterwards. He basically said nothing, but it was vintage Ballyhale – and Kilkenny – in how they seek to turn anything into a cause. The Shamrocks have now more than double the number of All-Irelands that Birr and Portumna have, while they have the same number of All-Irelands as Athenry, Blackrock and the Village have combined. But then when you crunch and compare the numbers, none of them are anywhere near Ballyhale. It’s hard to believe just how small the strongest and most successful hurling club in the world actually is.
