“Commercial partner, fan and investor interest in the Premier League appears higher than ever before,” he added. “And if you expand the rankings to include the top 30, there are 16 Premier League clubs in there. “The women’s professional game is still near the start of its journey,” he said. “The Premier League continues to appeal to millions of global followers and its member clubs have a greater revenue advantage over international rivals,” he said. It is the first time a single country has made up more than half the teams in the money league. However, the most notable rise sees Liverpool (£594m) climb four places to third and rise above Manchester United for the first time in the report’s 27-year history.

The Spanish league made just over half that amount, at €2.95 billion in revenue. Spanish football is running years behind the Premier League, Tebas said in an interview. All of the Premier League’s 20 teams being ranked in the top 30 is now a possibility, Deloitte said. The dominance of English clubs is causing increased tension among their rivals. Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and Bayern Munich were the only other non-English teams in the top 10.

It continues to appeal to millions of global followers and its member clubs have a greater revenue advantage over international rivals. "It's now likely a case of not if, but when, all 20 Premier League clubs will appear in the Money League top 30." Tim Bridge, lead partner in Deloitte's Sports Business Group, said: "For the first time, Premier League clubs fill the lion's share of positions in Deloitte's Football Money League. The table was led by Manchester City - the Premier League champions at the end of the 2021/22 season - with £619.1m in total revenue followed by Real Madrid on £604.5m. The 26th edition of the Deloitte Football Money League, which determines the top 20 clubs for revenue during the 2021/22 season, showed Premier League sides taking 11 of the positions - up from 10 the year before. Manchester City has topped a closely watched global revenue ranking for the second year running, with the wider Premier League taking "the lion's share" of the top spots globally for the first time.

Liverpool leapfrog Man Utd in the Deloitte Football Money League ... (Football365.com)

English clubs occupy more than half of the top 20 spots in the Deloitte Football Money League for the first time, with Man City retaining pole position.

The report found those clubs’ commercial and matchday revenue earnings helped push them above other English clubs in receipt of similar revenue from the Premier League’s TV deals. “The Premier League model is just so appealing to external markets. Bridge added: “If you look at the system overall as it stands today, more money is distributed down the English system than any other. Liverpool achieved their highest-ever position of third in the survey’s 26-year history with recorded revenue of £594.3m. “Now the Premier League itself would probably want to remove that threat because the product of the Premier League is driven by the diversity and the different clubs that have competed in it at different times. The English top flight’s broadcast revenues remain the envy of the rest of the world, and the report found that 16 clubs – 80 per cent of the league – featured in the 2023 Money League’s top 30.
