Kilmacud Crokes have moved within an hour of AIB All-Ireland club SFC redemption after holding off a battling Kerins O'Rahillys to secure their final spot.
Savage was terrific in this spell and had a penalty claim waved away as the southerners came up just short of a first ever final spot. Still, they refused to throw in the towel and impressively outscored Crokes by 0-07 to 0-03 from the 50th minute onwards to leave just a goal between them. It is the fifth game in a row that Crokes have avoided conceding a goal in, a run of stout defending that goes all the way back to the county semi-final. Then came the crucial Crokes goal which had the effect of applying a pin to the underdogs' ballooning hopes. Crokes deserved the win overall and should have scored more than just the one goal with Shane Foley in the O'Rahillys goals pulling off a series of fine saves throughout. They leaked a series of scores to the Jack Savage inspired Kerry outfit though and were relieved to hear the final whistle with three points between the teams.
Given how they lost last year's All-Ireland final to Kilcoo, it was perhaps understandable that Kilmacud Crokes felt a little spooked as Kerins O'Rahillys ...
Kilmacud Crokes: C Ferris; M Mullin, T Clancy, D O'Brien; A McGowan, R O'Carroll, A Jones; B Shovlin, C Dias; S Horan, D Mullin, C O'Connor; H Kenny, S Cunningham, S Walsh. The Dublin and Leinster champions stretched their advantage to four points 0-8 to 0-4 but O'Rahillys left the field for half-time encouraged by the last two points from Conor Hayes and Barry John Keane, who punished a spill by Crokes' goalkeeper Conor Ferris and they trailed by 0-8 to 0-6 at the break. And they should have stretched their lead further in the 57th minute to put it beyond doubt when substitute Luke Ward was denied by Foley after a scintillating run from Walsh from midfield, where O'Rahillys had been stripped of possession.

A SHOT AT final redemption awaits Kilmacud Crokes. Mugged at the finish line in the cruellest fashion imaginable last February, they have plotted a route ...
Darragh O’Connor for Hoare (46) Cillian O’Shea for Jones (46) Shane Horan The opening score of the game offered a glimpse of the combination – a Moran catch from his own kickout, a delivery to Jack Savage who fed Walsh at an angle and the layoff to Barry John Keane paved the way for a point. Conor Casey for Shovlin (46) Shane Cunningham, 12. They didn’t come close to a goal yet did place the Kilmacud kickout under severe late pressure and pounded their defence. Then there was the handsome lead of 1-11 to 0-7 they enjoyed at the three-quarter mark. Walsh was muted by his high standards this campaign yet he also weighed in with a pair of sweetly-struck shots. But the game slipped away from Kerins O’Rahillys when they shipped 1-3 without reply between the 32nd and 41st minutes. They impressively quietened the sizeable threat of Shane Walsh, the Galway marquee name closely watched throughout by the brilliant defensive operator Cormac Coffey. And when Jack Savage floated a 65th minute free into a packed goalmouth, Kilmacud minds must have drifted back to that dramatic Kilcoo goal in last year’s decider.
A late charge from Kerry's Kerrin O'Rahillys was not enough to deny Dublin champions Kilmacud Crokes a spot in the All-Ireland Senior Club Football Final, ...
At the close of the half, O'Rahillys rallied to cut their deficit back to two points, 0-8 to 0-6, after a subdued Shane Walsh added a free for Crokes. Hugh Kenny provided the crucial goal early in the second half, but their work was far from over as the Kerrymen pushed to the final whistle attempting to claw their way back. A late charge from Kerry's Kerrin O'Rahillys was not enough to deny Dublin champions Kilmacud Crokes a spot in the All-Ireland Senior Club Football Final, who saw their way to the decider on a scoreline of 1-14 to 0-14.
David Moran and the Kerry side couldn't reel in the Dublin heavyweights.

Kilmacus Crokes may have overcome Kerins O'Rahilly's in the All-Ireland semi-final this afternoon, but Robbie Brennan was not happy with the referee.
He is ahead of schedule, so we will check in with the Dublin lads as well. [TG4](https://www.tg4.ie/en/), Brennan admitted that he was not impressed with the performance of referee Niall Cullen. We have said that all year. We hope so (to have Mannion back). They were the more efficient team in front of goal, producing some lovely scores at times. Their manager Robbie Brennan admitted that his side will be hoping to improve in a number of aspects of their play ahead of the decider, although he will also be hoping for more favours from the officials on that occasion.
The sides do battle at Croke Park before the later meeting of Galway side Moycullen and Derry club Glen.

The Munster final showed the different attacking options that Barry John Keane and Tommy Walsh can offer Kerins O'Rahilly's, buth both scored points from play.
Dublin champions saw big lead shrink and a goal line clearance at the death was required.
“Yeah, I think that goal and I can’t remember it but it came out of nowhere and it was vitally important. Even in the final quarter, the six-point lead hardly budged. Brennan will want to look at the discipline area, as on a couple of occasions, free kicks were brought forward by needless backchat to referee Niall Cullen. and stand in front of him from behind or the side but he’s just – no wonder, three All-Irelands in three different decades for one of the greatest counties ever so it’s not a surprise and we certainly didn’t win that battle, that’s for sure.” Television Man of the Match, Hugh Kenny then broke the whole match apart. “He’s a phenomenal man, a phenomenal person, a phenomenal player. I think some of the fielding was top of the range stuff and I think he gave a real exhibition of high-fielding and catching. They still led by six points when the hour was up but O’Rahillys staged a big comeback. To allow ourselves be in that position was the most disappointing aspect. It was fitting that Moran nearly completed what would have been a miraculous recovery. The ghosts of last February haunted Kilmacud in the closing moments of Sunday’s All-Ireland club football semi-final at Croke Park. Until the fraught finale, Crokes had looked comfortable.

Kilmacud Crokes and Glen will now meet in the All-Ireland Senior Club Football Final in Croke Park on Sunday, January 22nd as part of a double-header with the All-Ireland Senior Club Hurling Final between Ballyhale Shamrocks and Dunloy Cuchullains. The second semi-final was an equally well-matched encounter as Glen held their nerve in the closing minutes to take the win on a scoreline of 1-11 to 0-12. In the first of the Croke Park double-header, Crokes ran out a 1-14 to 0-14 win after Hugh Kenny provided the crucial goal early in the second half.
Dublin champions to face tough Ulster side Glen in 2023 renewal, hoping to redeem last year's nightmare.
“As I said after the last game, it has happened so fast to a degree. For the club to be among the last two clubs left standing in Ireland, it is a massive thing. Kenny was blocked for a 45 in the 23rd and after Shane Walsh had put in one of those mesmerising runs on the counterattack, Luke Ward took the final pass but his shot was stopped. Waiting for them in the final will be another tough Ulster side. O’Rahillys had been sticky opponents but Hugh Kenny, named man of the match, shot 1-1 in a minute to open up a six-point lead and it didn’t look endangered until injury time. Hopefully it won’t be, but that’s the situation we are in at the minute.”
