Lowest temperatures of 1C to 4C with moderate to fresh westerly winds. It will be a chilly night with lowest temperatures of 1C to 4C. They add that there is a chance of sleet showers on higher ground in the west and southwest with highest temperatures of 5C to 9C. Saturday night is forecast to be windy, especially in the west and north of the country, with some heavy showers and a possibility of hail and thunder. It's not all bad news with some "sunny spells" throughout the day, however there will be further bands of showers with heaviest and most persistent rain in the west and south of Ireland with some "hail and thunderstorms possible." The “very unsettled” weather that we are experiencing is thanks to the powerful effects of the jet stream, which is set to lash the country with torrential rain and strong gusts over the weekend.

Status Yellow wind warning in place for western counties (Agriland)

Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow warning for wind for five counties on the west coast, which came into effect this morning.

It will be a cool night with lows again of 1° to 4°. On Sunday night, similar conditions will continue with the possibility of hail remaining. There is a possibility of hail in these counties too, while the east will experience drier spells as overnight lows reach 4° to 7°.
