Merry Christmas from Fantasy Football Scout (Fantasy Football Scout)

A but I wouldn't bench Saliba! I'm on something similar. Ederson Trippier James White KDB Rashford Martinelli Almiron Haaland Kane Darwin Ward Andreas Patterson ...

There’ll be a more prolonged retrospective in the traditional New Year’s message but, from myself and all at Fantasy Football Scout, we wish you a very merry Christmas. But we can’t completely ignore the looming Premier League resumption and the Gameweek 17 deadline, with the gifting of unlimited transfers meaning that many of us are spending more time than usual tinkering with our teams ahead of Boxing Day. It’s the one day a year when the virtual Fantasy Football Scout offices are completely deserted, pausing as we do for family festivities.

Week 17 Waiver Wire: Breakout Pickups, Targets and Tips for ... (Bleacher Report)

With Week 16 of the 2022 NFL season nearly complete, many fantasy managers in season-long leagues are already looking ahead to Week 17—which will be the...

Dotson had a terrific game in Week 16, finishing with six receptions for 76 yards and a touchdown. He and Hodgins have become two of Daniel Jones' favorite targets. James finished with eight catches for 90 yards. The Commanders likely surprised a few folks when they turned back to quarterback Carson Wentz late in Saturday's game. Hodgins, who was claimed off waivers in early November, has caught at least four passes in each of his past three games. San Francisco might already have a division title, but its players are looking to go into the postseason with momentum. With this in mind, let's examine some potential waiver-wire targets and fantasy tips for Week 17. All picks are based on point-per-reception (PPR) scoring. [rostered](https://www.fantasypros.com/nfl/players/richie-james.php) in 17 percent of Yahoo leagues and just 2 percent of ESPN leagues is also worth a look. [fifth-fewest fantasy points](https://www.fantasypros.com/nfl/points-allowed.php) to opposing receivers through Week 15—but James and Hodgins should provide a solid PPR floor. The San Francisco 49ers, Minnesota Vikings and Kansas City Chiefs have already secured division titles. Navigating Week 17 won't be easy, though, as injuries and potential resting starters could come into play.

Can NFL players participate in fantasy football? (AS English)

The league continues to maintain a no gambling policy where players are concerned, on the other hand fantasy football is allowed. What's the difference?

According to NFL Fantasy Football reporter Adam Caplan, about a quarter of the players he had interviewed have admitted to playing fantasy. [Ken Bishop, ](https://www.nfl.com/prospects/ken-bishop/32004249-5350-8098-9f59-2d93ac60b013)who was asked by bleacher report to give an estimated number, guessed 50 percent of NFL players actively play fantasy football. Behind closed doors, however, the number of players who have drafted a team rises exponentially. “NFL Personnel may not accept prizes with a value in excess of Two Hundred Fifty Dollars ($250) in any fantasy football game. However, there is still a degree of confusion on whether or not pro players are allowed to draft their teams in fantasy football. As long as they are not earning above the limit set in $250, they are permitted to play.

Fantasy Football Week 16 Hot Takes: Cam Akers Takes You to a ... (FantasyAlarm.com)

Britt Flinn brings you her hot takes after Week 16 of the NFL season, including a stellar performance from Rams RB Cam Akers.

However, with [Desmond Ridder](https://www.fantasyalarm.com/nfl/players/309995/Desmond-Ridder) at the helm, there seems to be a little light at the end of the tunnel for London fantasy managers. Green Bay is on the bubble of a wild card berth, tied with the Seahawks and the Lions, but the road looks much easier for Green Bay than it does the other two. However, they have managed to cobble together some wins in recent weeks, and with the state of the NFC as a whole, it looks like they could be able to sneak into the playoffs. [Drake London](https://www.fantasyalarm.com/nfl/players/309928/Drake-London) in the preseason, but a combination of bad play-calling and bad quarterback play has capped his upside throughout the year. [Stefon Diggs](https://www.fantasyalarm.com/nfl/players/303489/Stefon-Diggs), [Davante Adams](https://www.fantasyalarm.com/nfl/players/301267/Davante-Adams), and [DeAndre Hopkins](https://www.fantasyalarm.com/nfl/players/301057/DeAndre-Hopkins), but players like [Leonard Fournette](https://www.fantasyalarm.com/nfl/players/305012/Leonard-Fournette), [Cam Akers](https://www.fantasyalarm.com/nfl/players/308022/Cam-Akers), and [DeVonta Smith](https://www.fantasyalarm.com/nfl/players/309045/DeVonta-Smith) picked up the slack. The only way Miami is guaranteed a spot in the playoffs is to win both games, and with the way they’ve been playing lately, it’s looking more and more unlikely. They face the New England Patriots and New York Jets in the next two weeks, and next week’s game is on the road in frigid Foxborough. I know it’s incredibly difficult to bench your studs who have helped you get this far, but this is not the matchup you want to play around with when the championship is on the line. The Bolts haven’t been able to stop anyone on the ground, allowing the fifth-most rushing yards per game and the second-most rushing yards per attempt, so Akers should continue to show off what he’s got in the tank. San Francisco’s defense is a juggernaut, ranking first in points allowed per game, rushing yards, and rush yards per attempt, and with the Raiders’ offense looking anything but high-powered against the Steelers this week, it’s difficult to see how Jacobs comes away with any fantasy points at all. The holiday weekend has come and gone, and with it came a TON of football. Go ahead and get the milk and cookies ready.

Fantasy Football Week 16 Recap: Gardner Minshew among winners ... (CBSSports.com)

We break down big days from Minshew, Jahan Dotson and other winners, along with disappointments, Justin Fields' status and more.

[Five Early Waiver Targets](https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/football/news/fantasy-football-early-week-17-waiver-wire-jahan-dotson-trying-to-keep-hot-streak-rolling-into-championship/) [Leonard Fournette](/fantasy/football/players/2131693/leonard-fournette/) was Sunday. [Adam Thielen](/fantasy/football/players/2059362/adam-thielen/) and a perhaps-overmatched [KJ Osborn](/fantasy/football/players/2184383/k-j-osborn/)? The problem is, this [Ravens](https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/teams/BAL/baltimore-ravens/) offense just isn't very good without [Lamar Jackson](/fantasy/football/players/2239671/lamar-jackson/), and Dobbins pretty much needs to find the end zone to be a good Fantasy starter. 2 WR alongside [Justin Jefferson](/fantasy/football/players/2871343/justin-jefferson/)? [Deebo Samuel](/fantasy/football/players/2139735/deebo-samuel/) inactive and a pretty replaceable one when Samuel plays. He may be back in Week 17 against, but if he's not, Smith will be very hard to trust against a very good [Jets](https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/teams/NYJ/new-york-jets/) defense. [Quez Watkins](/fantasy/football/players/2262953/quez-watkins/) just had the ball taken from him. [DeAndre Hopkins](/fantasy/football/players/1737078/deandre-hopkins/)' struggles were at least somewhat predictable with the [Cardinals](https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/teams/ARI/arizona-cardinals/) down to third-string QB [Trace McSorley](/fantasy/football/players/2139306/trace-mcsorley/). [Justin Fields](/fantasy/football/players/1273205/justin-fields/)told reporters after the game he couldn't put his full weight on his foot and aggravated his previous injured non-throwing shoulder injury in Saturday's game against the [Bills](https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/teams/BUF/buffalo-bills/), which could explain the season-worst 11 rushing yard showing. This might go down as one of the most unexpected results of the season, as the [Rams](https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/teams/LAR/los-angeles-rams/) -- the Rams -- with [Baker Mayfield](/fantasy/football/players/2080032/baker-mayfield/) -- with Baker Mayfield -- dropped 51 points on them, with only one DST touchdown to help. I look around my leagues and I see similar results -- one team fighting for their lives because they got 15 yards from [Davante Adams](/fantasy/football/players/1893167/davante-adams/); another likely out because they got 3.3 PPR points from [Rhamondre Stevenson](/fantasy/football/players/3125832/rhamondre-stevenson/).

[Aaron Jones](https://www.thefantasyfootballers.com/fantasy/aaron-jones) this week were left with minimal fantasy points thanks to an injury on the first carry of the game for Jones. If fantasy managers with Jones advance to the title game, he should be good to go, but it’s worth noting that [AJ Dillon](https://www.thefantasyfootballers.com/fantasy/aj-dillon) has been getting more work over the last several weeks, so it might be a good idea to temper expectations for Jones. Kittle seems to be a preferred target for [Brock Purdy](https://www.thefantasyfootballers.com/fantasy/brock-purdy), and [Deebo Samuel](https://www.thefantasyfootballers.com/fantasy/deebo-samuel) is still out, so Kittle may have another big game and bring fantasy managers to a title. [Brock Purdy](https://www.thefantasyfootballers.com/fantasy/brock-purdy) has been playing well in his first four career starts and has thrown for two touchdowns in every game. Let’s just remember that it’s probably better to let someone else draft [DJ Moore](https://www.thefantasyfootballers.com/fantasy/dj-moore) in 2023. Similarly, [Davante Adams](https://www.thefantasyfootballers.com/fantasy/davante-adams) has been disappointing over the last three weeks after carrying fantasy managers all season. Fantasy Football Sleepers Week 17: Gardner Minshew, James Cook ... (Pro Football Network)

This week's fantasy football sleepers include the likes of James Cook, Jahan Dotson, and a host of other players to help you win your matchup in Week 17.

After a rotational role in the offense, Hodgins had his best day yet, catching eight of his team-high 10 targets (tied) for 89 yards and a touchdown against the Vikings. I wouldn’t bet against it happening either against a Titans defense that is bottom of the league across the board in passing defense and has allowed the most yards on deep targets. On Sunday, Watson injured his hip and was ruled out for the game without stepping on the field in the second half. 2 for Aaron Rodgers, playing on 88.2% of the plays in the second half. However, Conklin is eighth in targets (77) on the season and faces Seattle in Week 17, who have allowed the second-most points to TEs. Conklin’s 34 yards led the Jets’ receivers, but you have to go back to Week 8 for the last time Conklin scored double-digit fantasy points (25.9 PPR vs. Keep Doubs on the shortlist of sleepers for fantasy football. The Ghost only saw one target in his limited usage (five routes), but Hilton hauled in a 52-yard bomb, keeping the momentum on the Dallas sidelines. FPL review: Wasteful Darwin, 'outstanding' Nketiah (Fantasy Football Scout)

Our write-ups of the Gameweek 17 action begin with the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) talking points from Arsenal v West Ham United, Aston Villa v Liverpool ...

He has been trying in the last few games and has the capacity to score. Here, they cruised to victory on the south coast, yet owners of Leandro Trossard (£7.1m) were left underwhelmed. He showed his strength, quality and timing, the composure of the finish. what I really love and it’s so special that in the third goal, I think pretty much everybody here, if you’re ever in a situation like that, after the game he had where he just missed the last little touch to score a goal, we all would have just hammered the ball and try to force it. We’ve only kept one clean sheet all season and that’s something we have got to change.” – Nathan Jones He also has the best NPxGI tally among fellow Gunners’ midfielders, with a further six shots and five chances created in Gameweek 17. We have to make sure we have a foothold in the game and at the minute we’re not giving ourselves a chance. And he passed the ball to Stefan, so we can score the third goal, that makes him really special, the work-rate he put in, the spaces, the depth he creates for us. “Different things, of course it is like this, you are a human being and it doesn’t go easy that he can now close his eyes, hit the ball, and have it go in. However, in Robertson’s case, it’s worth noting he’s consistently delivering points despite the lack of clean sheets. However, through a combination of wrong calls and poor finishing, departed the pitch on 87 minutes with just two points. There are so many other things that are much more important, because in the end you look back [and] you cannot imagine how [many] big chances they missed in the beginning when I work with them, you just have to stay calm.

Ian Hartitz's Week 16 fantasy football fallouts: Nullified touchdowns ... (Pro Football Focus)

PFF's Ian Hartitz details the biggest fantasy football "sheeshes" of NFL Week 16, including nullified touchdowns, missed big plays and much more.

[New England Patriots](https://www.pff.com/nfl/teams/new-england-patriots/19/roster) played with fire by leaving Chase relatively alone on the left sideline early in the second quarter of their Week 16 loss to the Bengals. A smooth double move got Chase plenty of separation deep, but [Joe Burrow](https://www.pff.com/nfl/players/joe-burrow/28022)’s perfectly thrown deep ball bounced off his chest and fell incomplete. The fact that Patriots CB [Jonathan Jones](https://www.pff.com/nfl/players/jonathan-jones/11217) fell down shortly after the drop sure makes it seem plausible that the electric second-year receiver would have waltzed into the end zone for the 59-yard score with a catch. Brown and DJ Chark, he appears to be earning a larger role in the final weeks of 2022. He's proved himself capable of filling Detroit's void at the position and could be a decent championship-round dart throw if he's able to tally more scores in Week 17. It was the fourth-highest PPR scoring performance for the position in Week 16. AZ/CO/CT/IL/IN/IA/LA/MI/NH/NJ/NY/OR/PA/TN/VA/WV/WY only. Dotson began his current hot streak in Week 13 when he posted his first double-digit fantasy performance since the start of October. The 22-year-old remained consistent this past weekend, piling up another 19.6 points after he racked up six catches for 76 yards on a season-high nine targets. Minshew's fantasy managers will want to monitor the situation closely and have a contingency plan in case Hurts returns as Philly's starter after a one-game absence. The 26-year-old completed 60 percent of those attempts for 355 yards and two touchdowns in a single-digit road loss to the division rival Dallas Cowboys. Those on the fence regarding the fourth-year veteran's fantasy potential should now be swayed, but it's worth noting that Minshew isn't a shoo-in to start in Week 17. Hodgins should only continue to improve as he becomes more comfortable in New York's system. Tyler Allgeier's explosive Week 15 performance doesn't appear to be a fluke. Fantasy football: Browns' Nick Chubb is major question for title week (New York Post)

Start your studs,” they say. “Go with what got you here,” you often hear. “Don't overthink it” is thoughtful advice.

But it gets worse. He has scored in double-digits just twice — the Bucs breakout and 11.2 this past week against the Saints. Remove that one anomaly, and Chubb has averaged just 9.4 in the other five games in that span. In short, at this point in the year, recent performance is more important than season-long performance. He is delivering 16.5 in PPR each week, so he is one of the ones who helped get you here. So why is the Madman considering benching Nick Chubb in fantasy championship week?
