Ms Humphreys previously stood in for Ms McEntee as Justice Minister when she last went on maternity leave for six months between April and November 2021. Ms McEntee took six months maternity leave last year, after which her husband took six months. Social Protection Minister Heather Humphreys took over the justice portfolio late last month when Ms McEntee began her maternity leave.

He got down on one knee in January 2016 and proposed to Helen with the couple going on to tie the knot at St Patrick's Church in Castletown on 7 August 2017. The Fine Gael politician has temporarily stepped away from her role as Justice Minister to take maternity leave but remains a member of Government. "Mam and baby are doing well, and the Minister and her husband Paul are delighted with the new arrival," they told the Irish Examiner.
