Paddy Pimblett picks up win in controversial fashion at UFC 282 (Irish Mirror)

The Scouse star won his fourth YFC bout on the spin, but many questioned the judges decision.

It was neck and neck going into the third round and Gordon instantly shot for a takedown with Pimblett trying his best to break his rival’s grip. Gordon finished the round on top after Pimblett landed a takedown but was reversed and found himself on his back. The Scouser caught a kick from Gordon and capitalised by landing a good right hand that sent the American on the retreat. The pair were exchanging heavy shots on the feet and the action was briefly halted as Pimblett accidentally poked his opponent in the eye. Pimblett also detailed his plans to carry out charitable work with Gordon after launching his own foundation this week. His win over Gordon is the first time Pimblett has been taken the distance in the UFC.

Paddy Pimblett 'baffled' at UFC 282 robbery calls: 'I think that's just ... (MMA Fighting)

Paddy Pimblett is "baffled" and "annoyed" after his controversial UFC 282 win over Jared Gordon.

“The control time, in the last round, yeah, he controlled me against the fence, but he didn’t do anything with it. Some people have said to me, they think I won all three rounds, even the third, because he never did anything with the control time. Twenty-three of 24 media outlets scoring the fight gave it to Gordon, with a little less than half giving the American the 30-27 shutout. “But I’ll be honest, I thought I won the first two, and I took the third round off. There’s a likely another conversation ahead about the MMA scoring and how judges look at the action they’re seeing. “Nowadays, fights get scored off damage, and I’ve got a cut lip, that’s it,” he said. The lesson for Pimblett was clear in retrospect: never bank on judges’ interpretation of the action. “You don’t see that at all from any others, because it’s 15 minutes long.” Whatever the split for and against him, the unanimous decision was the inescapable fact for the U.K. “I’m bit annoyed after people saying they thought I lost,” Pimblett said during the UFC 282 post-fight show. I think I was landing the better knees and little short shots in those positions when he had me pushed against the cage.” But I’m 4-0 in the UFC – haters going to hate, you’ve got to get on with it.”

Darren Till reacts to his UFC 282 stoppage loss to Dricus Du Plessis in the event's Fight of the Night.

“I hope you enjoyed the fight and all, it was a bit of a war. “I felt like I had him there, I was making him switch. “Now, I don’t know what to do properly, but I think i’m going to have a little time off from the UFC, I don’t know, and just rethink stuff. Prior to that, Till lost a competitive decision to former champ [Robert Whittaker](https://www.mmafighting.com/fighter/1900/robert-whittaker) at UFC on ESPN 14 over a year earlier. I ain’t finding my right way at the moment, and it’s crazy because when I’m in the gym sparring with the best guys in the world, I really am in [my] element, and then I step in the octagon and I just can seem to put things together. After a completely one-sided opening round for Du Plessis, Till was able to turn the tide in the second during the back-and-forth battle, before the former KSW champion put the one-time UFC title challenger away in the final round.

Darren Till needs some time to "rethink stuff" after falling to a three-fight losing skid with his defeat at UFC 282.

I want to fight soon. I give my all to this sport. But when I step there in the octagon, I just can’t seem to put things together. I entered in the UFC in 2015. “I tried to come and put a show on. But I’m on a bit of losing skid at the moment, I really am.

UFC 282: Jan Blachowicz vs. Magomed Ankalaev - Fights to make (Bloody Elbow)

All the best, most interesting, and unquestionably coolest fights the UFC needs to book following their latest event in Las Vegas, NV.

Fights with Sodiq Yusuff or Lerone Murphy wouldn’t be a bad idea to that end, but Julian Erosa has a bout coming up with Alex Caceres and the winner of that seems like they’d provide one hell of a scrap to a man like Quarantillo. Speaking of which, a fight against Roman Dolidze wouldn’t be the worst way for the UFC to go coming out of Curtis’ latest win. This was almost always the way this fight was going to have to go for Chris Curtis. Exactly the fight Rozenstruik needed to jump back on the horse in the heavyweight division. Martinez has had a little success already in the UFC and is coming off a hard won bout against Brandon Davis. That said, there’s a big difference between being set up to do a thing and actually performing in the moment. For a fighter like Rosas, who really thrives in back-takes out of scrambles, a fighter like ‘The Joker’ was always gonna be there for him to work his A-game. A fighter who clearly has the technical skill as a striker, the physical tools to compete at a very high level, and who has put a ton of work in to round out his game. The youngest ever fighter to hit the Octagon has started his UFC career off with a win. Got a great stylistic matchup for his intro to the big show, in flat footed brawler Jay Perrin. Even if the UFC isn’t going to put the title back on the line, the bout was originally intended to be a top-contender’s fight for the winner of Prochazka vs. Is the UFC going to start throwing Pimblett in the deep end of the pool?

UFC 282 Grades: Evaluating the Main Card Standouts (Sports Illustrated)

The final report card is in for the judges, headliners and rising phenom Raul Rosas Jr.

After subbing Mitchell in the second round of their bout, he is on a collision course with the featherweight title. It was no surprise that Topuria’s striking was sharp, as that was expected to be an advantage, but he was also more effective on the ground. The third round was tough to judge, but it was a real surprise to see Pimblett win by unanimous decision. While Pimblett is certainly charismatic, he is nowhere near the dominant force McGregor was in the cage. He was in a position of control, but he could not allow Ankalaev to take him down. Ankalaev made incredible adjustments after both of his legs were compromised by Blachowicz’s leg kicks, and it looked like he definitively won the fight with his grappling.

I deal in facts lad and I won a unanimous decision,” Pimblett said in the post-fight interview. “I knew I’d won the first two, people don’t have to tell me, in the cage I thought he’d won the third,” Pimblett said. Pimblett also responded to the criticism and said he would fight “whoever’s name is on the contract next”. Speaking post-match, the lightweight fighter was certain he was the winner and pointed to the unanimous verdict. Pimblett and Gordon’s fight was the first of UFC 282 to go to a decision, with the three judges scoring it 29-28 to the undefeated lightweight. The fight was handed to the Liverpudlian by unanimous decision and as Pimblett began his celebrations Rogan tilted his head back, shocked by the result which was dubbed a “highway robbery”.
