For 2022's epic Elden Ring vs God of War Ragnarök face-off at The Game Awards, host Geoff Keighley promises plenty of spectacle and hypey world premieres.

So we had to go to Vegas, and Britney Spears loaned us her theatre and her set for her concert tour for the first year. This year's TGA ceremony taking place on 8 December 8 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, promises a ton of gaming announcements for 2023 and beyond, a slew of awards to the best games in a variety of categories from indie to big-budget, as well as a bunch of celebrity and developer appearances. Now recently God of War Ragnarök has picked up a tonne of momentum and people love that as well. We had 1.9 million viewers the first year, and we celebrated that. And with the recent waning of major industry staples such as the E3 trade show where hundreds of new titles were revealed in a matter of days, Keighley has become a sort of bastion for the industry at large. In contrast, 2022's Oscars ceremony was watched by 16.6 million viewers in the US.

From Death Stranding 2 to Hades II, The Game Awards 2022 gave us a ton to get excited about.

The Game Awards didn’t skimp on the trailers this year, and that’s even with Instead we got an Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon trailer, and people are very excited about it. We got another look at the upcoming Super Mario Bros. It’s a coproduction between Bandai Namco and Amazon Games, and has a surprisingly classic anime look to its characters. Get ready to use all of Aloy’s tools and abilities to get through this new challenge. Tekken 8 is coming, fighting game fans, and it’s bringing back some old favorites like Paul, Law, and Jack-8. New weapons, new armor, and a whole new world is waiting for us next year, and I’m fully prepared to get sucked back into Destiny again. There’s the BioShock hands, the weird BioShock enemies hopped up on a weird drug, and machinery. It plays with perspective and gives some mind-bending Portal vibes for sure. If you’re a fan of either thing, this will be something to check out, and if you’re a fan of both, you are eating well. Gaming’s biggest night has come and gone, leaving with it a collection of discourse and a pile of new trailers for us to watch and re-watch over the holidays.
