Reed’s wife was not injured, authorities said. “We just kind of kept our distance because we knew he liked to keep to himself.” She said she knew he “collected guns and had a lot of guns” but had never felt threatened by him. “It was a very big shock.” In the more than 24 years they knew each other, Corbin said he never had “any issues” with Reed. He was somebody that would help you if you needed help.” Reed had been engaged in an overnight standoff with police at his home, 4690 Hollyridge Cove.

At the request of Sherwood police authorities, FBI SWAT and negotiation team members took charge of the stand-off. Eugene Elliot Reed, 69, was shot and killed during an exchange of gunfire with Arkansas State Troopers early today. The man was named in arrest warrants filed Monday in Sherwood District Court with multiple charges including terroristic threatening, assault on a law officer and impersonation of a law officer. He was firing from the second floor of his house and was armed with numerous weapons, including high-caliber automatic rifles.

The findings will be reviewed by the Pulaski County prosecuting attorney to determine if all applicable laws were followed.
