The Ultimate Irish Playlist (RTÉ and RTÉ Player) is a good idea. It's just a shame that they tried to wedge in a long-form advert for 2FM at the start.

On to number one, and it’s 'Zombie', by the Cranberries. It’s just a shame that they tried to wedge in a long-form advert for 2FM at the start. The execution of this idea started like an away day for 2FM DJs, where they sit around a table and pick their picks, over-laughing at Dave Fanning’s jokes as if he was the boss. It was number four here and I almost sang along. 10% of the show has passed before we get to hear the first song. It’s just a shame that they tried to wedge in a long-form advert for 2FM at the start.(RTÉ and RTÉ Player) is a good idea.

RTE viewers took to Twitter to have their say after Nadine Coyle took on The Cranberries anthem 'Zombie' on the Ultimate Irish Playlist.

It's a sound of the time too.' Another added: 'What on earth were the people who put the programme together thinking when they chose Nadine Coyle to perform Zombie?? While someone tweeted: 'Who in God's name thought it woukd be a good idea to get Nadine Coyle to sing Zombie? 'Zombie' narrowly beat The Pogues' 'Fairytail of New York' to be crowned Ireland's greatest ever song. It's a really heavy song. She’s always bound to take some flak from those who think they’re experts but you could clearly see how much work she put into that performance.'
