BOURNEMOUTH 2-3 TOTTENHAM: KIERAN GILL AT THE VITALITY STADIUM: The comeback winner for Spurs was bagged by Rodrigo Bentancur after their 19th corner of the ...

Bournemouth looked in control but in the 57th minute, Tottenham gave themselves a chance. Conte brought on Dier and Bentancur with Tottenham making it 2-2 in the 73rd minute. There was some ugliness by the sidelines when Moura clashed with a Bournemouth ballboy. A cross by Adam Smith and a header by Moore, who wanted to get to the ball more than Royal. Once the game resumed, five minutes of stoppage time were announced and Tottenham won yet another corner. But Conte wanted to manage Dier and Bentancur’s minutes and dropped them for game No 9 of the month. Tavernier squared the ball to Moore. In the 23rd minute, Bournemouth led 1-0. Conte made those calls with a view to Tuesday’s trip to Marseille – a match they cannot lose, otherwise it’s curtains for them in the Champions League. Tottenham looked more like The White Tripes in the opening exchanges as Bournemouth took control of this match. Ryan Sessegnon kickstarted the comeback with a tidy finish from a tight angle. Finally, Rodrigo Bentancur struck the stoppage-time winner from Tottenham’s 19th corner of the match.

Rodrigo Bentancur completes Tottenham comeback with stoppage ... (BreakingNews.ie)

Second-half goals from Ryan Sessegnon, Ben Davies and Bentancur saw Spurs come from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at Bournemouth.

He managed to suck Sanchez out of position, which left Moore free to curl home first-time for his second goal of the season. Ivan Perisic, who had been stripped to come on before Sessegnon’s strike, was introduced for Emerson soon after and made an impact with 17 minutes left at the Vitality Stadium. Sessegnon had been set to come off before his goal but stayed on the pitch with Sanchez and Yves Bissouma hauled off for Dier and Bentancur. Hojbjerg produced a superb defence-splitting pass for Sessegnon, who ran away from Tavernier and burst into the area before his low effort went in off the post to reduce the deficit. A lack of quality in attack remained the visitors’ Achilles heel and that was summed up perfectly when Emerson Royal sliced an effort high up into the air which landed on the roof of the Vitality Stadium to ensure it stayed 1-0 at the break. It was a deserved opener for the hosts and Lloris had to be alert two minutes later to thwart another driving Tavernier run.

Tottenham Hotspur's second half performance earns them three ... (Cartilage Free Captain)

Rodrigo Bentancur's stoppage time goal capped off a brilliant comeback as Tottenham Hotspur picked up all three points on the road against AFC Bournemouth ...

- I never, ever want to see that combination of defenders on the back line again. - I was all set to give Ryan Sessegnon man of the match for Spurs, but Rodrigo Bentancur was brilliant in his 40 minutes of play. - Tale of two halves, to say the least. - 90+2’ - GOAL SPURS!!!! - 57’ - GOAL SPURS!!! He got flipped a few times in the formation and it didn’t matter where he was. - 4’ - Speaking of chances, another one for Bournemouth on the break. - 36’ - Hey a chance! VAR has a look at it but it’s just a goal kick in the end. Fantastic ball into the box by Son that comes off a Bournemouth defender’s head, almost for an own goal. He beats a flailing Sanchez with his pass, allowing Moore to curl it into the corner. Inconsistency has been a big issue for Antonio Conte’s boys, but with a gauntlet of matches remaining before the World Cup break, the Italian was forced to rotate in defense and midfield for this match.
