"It was a big deal to think about a second series that wouldn’t involve those characters. I think that the audience really responded to them and took them into their hearts. Series one focused on a pact made by a group of friends and co-workers, rather than a family. Speaking about the first series, writer Pete McTighe, said: "I think what the audience seemed to really love about it was the characters. Where was The Pact season 2 filmed? (Radio Times)

The Pact blew audiences away with its stunning settings in season 1, and it's about to do the same with its second season. But where was the show filmed?

McTighe spoke about the importance of the location: "On the page and in my head it was this isolated house on the coast, which sounds easy to write and easy to find, but of course it turned out not to be. [subscribe now](http://radiotimes.com/magazine-subscription?utm_term=evergreen-article) and get the next 12 issues for only £1. They pulled a rabbit out of the hat when they found that house. The new season was a commission between BBC Drama and BBC Wales. There are lots of scenes that are shot on the beach and along the cliffs. Ayola's character Christine lives in a house at Llantwit Major on the Bristol Channel coast. It’s really important on the page that there’s that sense of place, and the Welsh coastline really gave us that. I don’t know why my parents didn’t take us there more when we were kids!" There’s something beautiful but also wistful and almost tragic about the Welsh coast. Filming also took place at Rest Bay in Porthcawl. Working there was a real eye-opener for me and it filled me with joy, but also sadness, because I realised it could have been my childhood. Where was The Pact season 2 filmed?

He’s in his early 20s, so he is exploring that, and in this small town he is a bit of a unicorn. Elsewhere in the cast is Lloyd Everitt as Will Rees - one of Christine's sons. The Pact Series 2 Episode 1 Review: Who is Connor Moran? (Den of Geek)

BBC thriller The Pact returns with a fresh cast and a new mystery for series two - but who is mysterious stranger Connor?

But is he a scam artist or was it just a case of mistaken identities as he tries to track down his real family? Connor convinces Megan to meet him, and we learn he was brought up in care and has been trying to track down his parents, while planting the first red flag that his story might not be all that legit – he shoehorns in a reference to Rage Against the Machine, a band whose LP we saw him conveniently discover in Liam’s room when he broke into the house at the start of the episode. And, as the characters make sure to tell us every two minutes for the rest of the episode, he looks exactly like their recently departed brother Liam.

The Pact, series 2 review: the future isn't bright for this murky Welsh ... (Telegraph.co.uk)

The BBC drama returns for a second season, with new crimes and secret pacts – but it's thin gruel to get through.

The interiors are all quite murkily rendered too, to go with the dark Scandi-esque secrets that Christine, who is quite the lying, controlling villainess, uses to blackmail all and sundry. But six hours is too generous a portion of thin gruel. If you don’t want to listen to what everyone’s saying, there’s always the soundtrack which omnipresently pumps out dull doomy chords in the background, a bit like musical cloud cover. I will find them!” The dialogue’s on that sort of level. Her oldest son, Will, has machismo management issues, her youngest, Jamie, is a nice drip with crippling anxiety, while her daughter, Megan (Mali Ann Rees), is, like Derek Smalls in [In the first series](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/tv/2021/05/17/pact-episode-1-review-monterey-swapped-monmouthshire-welsh-big/) four women accidentally did away with their boss and spent the rest of the six-part series twisting and wriggling to avoid justice.

Rakie Ayola returns as Christine, whose grief for her late son is interrupted by a mysterious stranger claiming to be another of her offspring.

But if he wasn’t related to the Reeses, there was no explanation of his uncanny likeness to Liam. Already, the family was divided according to those who wanted to believe Connor and those who couldn’t bring themselves to do so. She seemed desperate to distance herself from his story. The episode began with him climbing through a window and moving through Christine’s empty house, flicking through records and poring over notebooks before pocketing a family photo. While her other son Will (Lloyd Everitt) shared his mother’s convictions, her daughter Megan (Mali Ann Rees) wasn’t as quick to dismiss Connor. Rakie Ayola reprises her role as social worker Christine Rees, who in this opening episode was grappling with the death of her son Liam.
