“I had no idea, I was just in the zone,” he said. How could the Athletic Commission know if he doesn’t tell us. He did not participate in public workouts this week, nor did he warm up on fight night by hitting against pads. It’s not like he came in out of shape or looked injured... He added that he had told the referee before the fight that he expected his shoulder to pop out mid-fight, but asked him not to stop the fight if that was the case. He dislocated the shoulder AGAIN in the second round, before the referee finally stepped in to stop the fight as Sterling battered his defenceless opponent.
Dillashaw had an uphill battle, revealing that he entered his title fight against Sterling with a significant pre-existing injury.
Sterling snatched a D'Arce choke attempt and wound up with a back mount. Goddard, according to UFC commentator Jon Anik, informed the broadcast team that Dillashaw's injury was disclosed to him before the fight. Dillashaw remarkably toughed it out, surviving rear-naked choke attempts and making it to his feet. Sterling mauled Dillashaw over the course of two rounds in which Dillashaw was afflicted with a recurring shoulder injury. It did not take long for Sterling to mount Dillashaw and land big punches. Sterling took down Dillashaw early in Round 1 and Dillashaw's shoulder appeared to pop out of place, eliciting a grimace from the former champ.
Sterling took Dillashaw down immediately and the shoulder popped out. It was all downhill from there for the former bantamweight champion.

He’s trying to put it back in. After having his shoulder reset by his corner, and being cleared by the doc to compete in the second round, Dillashaw went back at there. Aljo then earned himself another takedown, and pounded away from the back as Dillashaw failed to improve his position. During the exchange, Dillashaw appeared to have dislocated his left shoulder. Aljo started to drop hammers from the top, but somehow Dillashaw survived and even made it back to his feet. Dillashaw, in the second round.
