Former Derry player has netted six times in the competition this season. Treaty, who slowly began to settle got right back into the contest on the half hour mark. Derry could well have grabbed a two-goal lead on 54 minutes. However, his dipping effort on goal flew just outside the left hand upright in the 86th minute. A bullet header from Brandon Kavanagh doubled the Candystripes leaded as he powered the ball to the net from Cameron McJannett cross. It was Kavanagh's third goal in four games.

Derry made a blistering start to the tie. There were eight minutes on the clock when Derry pounced. Treaty United striker Enda Curran latched onto the ball 40 yards from the Derry goal. The packed attendance impeccably observed a poignant minute’s silence prior to kick-off for the 10 people who tragically lost their lives in the Creeslough explosion last Friday. And ex-City striker Enda Curran coolly slotted home the spotkick to make a game of it. Collins, M. McEleney, M. Declan Glass, who netted a hat-trick in Derry’s first round hammering of Oliver Bond, was handed his first start since 12 August. It was a nervy ending for the home side and William Ardshaw had a great chance on the counter to find an equaliser as he raced clear of Shane McEleney but fired just over the bar with two minutes to go. Treaty were thrown a lifeline on 29 miunbutes when Dummigan clipped the heels of Jack Lynch inside the Derry penalty area and there was no hesitatuion from referee Neil Doyle who pointed to the spot. Derry doubled their lead on 15 minutes when Cameron McJannet crossed superbly from the left and the ball flicked off the head of a Treaty defender before falling perfectly for Kavanagh who headed firmly into the net from eight yards. After just three minutes, McEleney clipped in a ball into the penalty area where Brandon Kavanagh drifted into space but just as he was about to unleash his shot, Ludden made a timely intervention to turn in behind for a corner.

Derry should have won by more, but the City Faithful will take this victory and look forward to that important trip to the capital next month.

McEleney, Diallo; B. McEleney, Connolly, McJannett; Diallo, P. Derry continued to dominate the ball during the latter stages as the side from Limerick appeared to struggle with fitness levels With four minutes remaining Treaty's William Armshaw broke from inside is own half and his shot on the run narrowly failed to hit the target And at the other end in the 87th minute, Derry sub, Joe Thomson, failed to hit the target when well placed while Duffy drove a decent shot high into the side netting and in the 93rd minute keeper Brady did well to deny Patrick McEleney. Derry really should have extended their lead in the 54th minute when Kavanagh and McGonigle combined before the latter's cut-back into the path of the unmarked Declan Glass but his shot was deflected off the head of a defender and a glorious chance had been lost. The ball was played down the left flank and when Duffy opted to play it back into the path of Cameron McJannet, his perfect cross was headed home by Brandon Kavanagh for his second goal of the season. In the 16th minute the Premier Division side doubled their lead and Treaty United were in difficulty.
