Brendan O'Carroll had emotions running high for viewers of Friday night's RTE Late Late Show as he spoke about his childhood and the sad passing of his dad.

I had everything in my mind; a white picket fence, a swing in the garden. He had been in and out of hospital; he hadn't been a constant presence in the house. "That was tough," he told Ryan. I got up and went downstairs to go to the toilet and I was coming back up the stairs. I think I kept that promise. We lived in a corporation house in Finglas and the toilet was downstairs.
