Joe Locke and Kit Connor, stars of the [Netflix](https://www.digitalspy.com/netflix/) coming-of-age show, were both in the running for the Rising Star award. They went head-to-head with [Coronation Street](https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/coronation-street/)'s Paddy Bever and [Bridgerton](https://www.digitalspy.com/tv/ustv/a39463144/bridgerton-season-3-release-date-netflix/) actress Charithra Chandran. [Trigger Point](https://www.digitalspy.com/tv/a39251932/vicky-mcclure-trigger-point-future-confirmed-2023/), Time, [This Is Going to Hurt](https://www.digitalspy.com/tv/a39001231/this-is-going-to-hurt-season-2-release-date-cast-plot/) and [Heartstopper](https://www.digitalspy.com/tv/a39758962/heartstopper-season-2-release-date-netflix/). However, the red carpet was awash with famous faces, including NTA host Joel Dommett, our favourite soap stars and the many talented nominees. The National Television Awards are upon us again.

It's been a very busy year in TV land, with so many new releases and returning shows gracing our screens for 2022, but the NTAs managed to narrow down the 2022 ...

THE NTAS is the most glam event of the year for British television and stars of the screen have been pulling out all the stops.Tonight, a bevy of poli.

[Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield,](https://www.thesun.ie/tv/9563953/holly-willoughby-phillip-schofield-booed-nta/) who were booed by the live audience moments earlier, thanked people for voting them to win for the 12th year in a row before handing Alison the microphone. [Ant and Dec](http://thesun.co.uk/who/ant-and-dec), who had been forced to pull out of the awards after both contracting [Covid](http://thesun.co.uk/topic/coronavirus), who made history again on the night. [Alison Hammond](https://www.thesun.ie/tv/9562100/alison-hammond-slim-ntas-phillip-schofield/), Strictly winner Rose Ayling-Ellis and TV presenter Graham Norton were also nominated for prizes at the annual industry event.

It was crowned Best Daytime show for another year, after weeks of public scrutiny for Phil and co-host Holly Willoughby over claims they jumped the queue to see ...

Holly also made a nod to their loyal audience by thanking their viewers for voting for them, she said, "I think This Morning has a very special relationship with you. But she also shared her happiness that "This Morning won one anyways." Do you think now that you've won this the public have said, 'Actually we don't care that much' about queue gate?" ahahaha." He was asked: "Phil do you think this vindicates you for queue gate? This means so much to us every year, especially this year."

Crowds at the National Television Awards were heard booing as This Morning won the accolade for Daytime TV amid the backlash from queue-gate.

One person said: "Not really sure why they’re blocking out all the boo’s for Holly & Phil on the #NTAs". Matt said: "Loose Women absolutely HATING Holly and Phil is giving me life The National Television Award means so much to us all, and we couldn’t be more grateful for your continued support". But viewers didn't seem so happy for the news as boos could be heard among those cheering on the TV show and its stars during the ceremony - before the sound appeared to cut away from the audience. The nominees for the award on Thursday night were This Morning, Loose Women, The Repair Shop and The Chase. "You make our show for us, you really do."

[ Holly and Phil caused outrage by failing to queue ](https://www.mylondon.news/news/tv/itv-morning-53000-people-sign-25078044)with members of the public to pay their respects to Queen Elizabeth II last month. Former This Morning presenter Eamonn Holmes, who is married to Loose Women and This Morning host Ruth Langsford, was among their most vocal critics, accusing them on TV of "lies". I have the best friend, we have the best boss." She jokingly added: "I ain't going to lie but we all know I should have won one of these as well. The pair looked embarrassed as some members of the NTA crowd shouted them down as they were announced as the winners on stage at the OVO Arena in Wembley. Viewers watching at home were convinced they heard fans in the audience booing the presenting team as they accepted Best Daytime for This Morning after weeks of merciless trolling over 'Queuegate'.

Booing could be heard among the cheers for the TV stars during the ceremony before the sound from the audience appeared to cut out.

Other people were also quick to point out that ‘awkward’ moment as boos were heard. The pair then pushed fellow This Morning presenter, Alison Hammond towards the mic, who earlier lost out on the Best Presenter award to Ant and Dec. She joked “I should have won one of these as well - you know what?

Loose Women stars failed to clap for Holly and Phillip as This Morning took home an NTA win.

They said: "The boos in the room were very loud when Holly and Phil were announced as the winners. Meanwhile a fourth shared: "Did you see the look on the faces of some of the Loose Women? A third tweeted: "Not a fan of either but love how p***ed off the Loose Women are at This Morning winning whatever it is they won." One viewer wrote: "The slow clap from Kaye Adams I've actually got tears in my eyes", while another added, "Linda Robson's face and reaction when they announced @thismorning as the #NTA winner was so funny." Audible boos could also be heard as Holly and Phillip took to the stage at Wembley Arena to accept the award. It was all very awkward."

Emmerdale has once again won the National Television Award for Best Serial Drama, after Coronation Street previously broke its winning streak.
