Tributes continue after son and mother found dead in Dublin (Irish Examiner)

The bodies of Kate Donohoe, who was in her 40s, and her seven-month-old son Vincent were discovered inside their Beechfield Court home in Clonee.

“We are so glad to have helped re-home so many lurchers and greyhounds that Kate brought to the shelter. Kate was renowned for her passion for sighthounds (type of dog) in particular. Kate worked with lots of rescues (animals) and went above and beyond to help save the lives of so many dogs with a special love for Sighthounds.

Gardaí are treating discovery of remains in Clonee house as suspected murder and suicide.

Gardaí have contacted members of the woman and child’s family, and a Garda family liaison officer has been appointed. A number of Ms Donohoe’s dogs were in the house at the time, and they were taken away to be cared for elsewhere. The inquiry is focused on what they ingested before their deaths and a number of items, including medicines, have been taken from the property for analysis. Gardaí are treating the death of Vincent as a suspected homicide. It is believed the mother and boy may have been dead for a number of days before their bodies were found. Ms Donohoe was well known in the Clonee area and was known for her love of dogs, especially greyhounds.
