That’s a fine recognition of his importance to this squad on and off the field. It’s certainly a bold line-up today, and it’ll be interesting to see what the tactical switch looks like on the pitch. The Greek was starved of any sufficient service throughout, yet when Alexandro Bernabei crossed on 95 minutes, Giakoumakis was alive to sweep home with his left foot, sending the Celtic fans into sheer ecstasy. Abada also had a few chances in the second half, none of which he was able to take and other than registering efforts on goal, the winger didn’t contribute too much. Reo Hatate stood out in Celtic’s midfield today. Of Celtic’s centre back pairing, Stephen Welsh acted somewhat as a sweeper, covering in behind whilst Carter-Vickers challenged for aerial balls. The centre half didn’t have any moments of brilliance in defence although his presence itself definitely brought a bit more stability to the Hoops’ backline in spite of St. Ralston was tough in the tackle as he put in a passable performance.
