Chris Pratt's voice in the Super Mario movie has upset hardcore fans (JOE)

I think we’re going to be just fine." Maybe not entirely – people love to voice opinions, as they should." Yeah, so that's our nod." "Yeah, I can't wait for people to hear it." Comedian Charlie Day plays Mario's iconic brother Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy will portray Princess Peach, Keegan-Michael Key stars as Toad, Seth Rogen plays Donkey Kong and Jack Black takes on the character of Bowser. But I am once again asking Hollywood why they have this love affair with Chris Pratt when he ultimately brings nothing but a name to his voices. A second person echoed the sentiment, writing: "Dawg, this man didn't even try using a different voice." I can understand not giving Mario a cutesy over-the-top accent but there is NOTHING in Pratt's voice. Just wasn't impressed and I hope these two lines aren't all he's got. [October 6, 2022] A third added: "Everyone else in the trailer is doing a voice but this motherf**ker. Movie has dropped, giving fans a hint at what they can expect from the Italian plumber next year and while the reception has been warm – someone has already come under fire.

Let's discuss the Super Mario Movie trailer (Eurogamer.net)

From Illumination's rendition of the Mushroom Kingdom through to Jack Black's Bowser, Keegan Michael-Key's Toad, Charlie Day's Luigi and - of course - Chris ...

I'll preface this by saying that I don't care that much for the Mario movie. I'm not sure if he's trying to put on a bit of a New York accent, but whatever it is it's not working for me. This is why I showed the trailer to my wife saying, "Oh man, it looks just like Mario 3." I had pretty much forgotten this film was on the way, so the trailer was kind of a double gift for me. How this all translates into a full movie remains to be seen, of course, but whichever way Mario himself turns out, I'm cautiously optimistic about the whole endeavour. Isn't he just an avatar for the player to "wahoo!" "Oh, this doesn't look so bad," I thought when the trailer first began. Does this mean that this take on Nintendo's games is going to be an origin story for the brothers? I have a lot of questions, and I am looking forward to finding out more in the future. Leading with Jack Black's Bowser was a masterstroke, since a perfect alchemy seems to have been found between the School of Rock star and Mario's nemesis, while the Mushroom Kingdom looks simply incredible (and simply quite edible, really - Mario levels at their best look good enough to eat, as was the case here with what Illumination has done with Nintendo's world). So, Mario doesn't seem to know the Mushroom Kingdom in this film! From Illumination's rendition of the Mushroom Kingdom through to Jack Black's Bowser, Keegan Michael-Key's Toad, Charlie Day's Luigi and - of course - Chris Pratt's not-so-novel take on Mario, there's a lot to unpack.

Mario Movie Trailer Breakdown: 17 Easter Eggs and Theories From ... (IGN)

We finally have heard Chris Pratt's voice as Mario in The Super Mario Bros. trailer, but what other Easter eggs and theories have come out of the Mario ...

We’d have to assume that Mario and Luigi both came through to the Mushroom Kingdom at the same time, but something split the two, and Luigi seems to have gotten the unlucky end of the deal. When Mario first lands in the Mushroom Kingdom at 1:41, he’s seen laying on his back, and for a brief moment, you can see a yellow butterfly fly away, a shot that looks eerily similar to an ending shot in Super Mario Galaxy. New Donk?) and was sucked into a drain that he was trying to unclog and teleported to the Mushroom Kingdom. We’ll be covering plenty more Mario movie news and reveals while we wait for the film to be released on April 7, 2023. It’s also our guess that one of the next scenes right after we see Mario bouncing on mushrooms will be his arrival in the Mushroom Kingdom. One would have to assume that there’s more than just this one in the movie, and that there’s likely one hidden somewhere in the Mushroom Kingdom, which is what’s going to put Mario and Bowser on a collision course. Sometimes they grant temporary invincibility, sometimes they’re the main item that Mario hunts in games like Mario 64 and Mario Galaxy, and other times they’re the thing that determines who the winner is in a game of Mario Party, but regardless, they’re always heavily desired, and it obviously seems like collecting them is the main objective of Bowser. In the wide shot of the Koopa army, you see a line of cannons right in the middle. A few seconds later, we see that the penguins tried their best, but unfortunately, we see Bowser and Kamek make incredibly short work of them. Also, can we just say that most of the characters here are somewhat altered for the movie, but it especially looks like they tried to make Bowser look like Jack Black. The very first shot of the trailer gives us a glimpse of a mysterious ice kingdom that the famous Mario Bros.’ penguins call home. If you look reallyyyyyy closely, you can see that the particle effects of Kamek’s teleportation are the typical squares, circles, and triangles that he uses when he casts spells in the game.
