JOHN FINN remembers Kildare football being at a low ebb when the 1990 county final rolled around.Just like this Sunday, Finn's Clane were slated to.

It was not until last season that Naas finally won the county title again, beating Sarsfields by two points. He had an injection of pace and a lethal finish. “He was definitely impressed with the quality at his disposal and a lot of us would go on to be part of that great journey with him afterwards.” Finn said: “Johnny was just exceptional in that 1990 final for Naas. “I do remember that the 1990 final was a particularly good game and that Micko would have used it to see who was available and what the quality was like. “We were back in the final ourselves having been beaten by Johnstownbridge in ’89 so there was a bit of expectation on us but then it was huge for Naas too as they hadn’t been in a final in decades.
