England cruise to victory over Pakistan in T20 series decider (Telegraph.co.uk)

Pakistan vs England seventh T20: as it happened · Player of the match, Dawid Malan speaks · That winning feeling · Over 20: Pakistan 142/8 (Hasnain 4, Rauf 1).

Hales, though, was picked for his experience and record in the Big Bash and he has done enough in this series with one to play to keep his place when England arrive in Australia next week. There are a few big-name England absentees in Pakistan but their Twenty20 World Cup team has taken shape, which apart from the politics and symbolism, was the point of the tour. He is averaging 50 from six games with a strike rate of 159 and looked very happy on the pitches and facing spin. The pitch is the one used in the first game which was slow and low but that was just after heavy rain on Tuesday. What a reaction from Rizwan, as the ball is bounced up and he sticks out a right mitt. Alex Hales is denied his boundary due to a brilliant stop from Rauf at long-off but then he does find the fence from the next three deliveries. It's four more last week as well for England as Hasnain is having a nightmare at deep third and allowing the ball to slip past him. Three absolute dollies put down and for the first time in the series the crowd were giving their side a bit of stick. Then, the wicket of Asif is taken with a simple catch from Topley and a brilliant short ball delivered by Woakes. It's four singles, a dot ball and a wide is all that comes from the bowling of Reece Topley. Shan Masood was picked on the back of a good Blast season for Derbyshire but there is a big difference belting county cricket and England bowlers around instead. The match was done by the end of the powerplay, with Pakistan 33 for three and sinking.

At that point, with 111 required from the final 31 balls, the crowds emptied into the streets of Lahore as the rest of the match played out in front of a half-empty stadium. This wasn't the first time in these weeks that crowds have yearned for Asif to come to the crease while expressing glee at Khushdil's departure. Duckett was eventually done in by a brilliant piece of work from Rizwan behind the stumps, who gathered the ball off an under-edge and brought it to the stumps in one motion. He finishes as the leading wicket-taker with eight at 23.62, which serves as a reminder that even a world-class operator relies on support from those around him. But the overriding thought at the end of these seven matches was how long and overdue it has been for an England side to tour Pakistan. He should have boasted the wickets of Brook and Malan - both dropped by his captain - and in turn Pakistan lost the thread of this match. Rauf then had Malan missed off his bowling (on 64) by Mohammad Wasim in the deep, whose misery was taken to new depths when he stepped up to close out the innings. England, by contrast, opted against using Mark Wood, a key point of difference in their attack, with a view to preserving him for the T20 World Cup in Australia, while captain Jos Buttler sat out once more. [Dawid Malan](http://www.espncricinfo.com/player/dawid-malan-236489)registered his first half-century of the tour, with an unbeaten 78 that began in the fifth over. Woakes would go on to finish with three for 26, including [Shan Masood](http://www.espncricinfo.com/player/shan-masood-233901), whose 56 was Pakistan's only score of note. A smart bowling performance confirmed a 4-3 series to England thanks to victory by 67 runs, Pakistan's fourth-biggest such margin in the format. For a series that has showcased the best of international T20 cricket, it was a shame the finale carried so little jeopardy.

Moeen Ali leads the team as they walk to greet the opposition players They started off the 7-match series with a win, and have done extremely well to sign off in style. In reply, the Pakistani openers weren't able to replicate what the England openers managed to do. A good comeback by England to finish off the series with back-to-back wins. We have been in the hotel for quite a bit, but we are ready to get to Australia now. We need to improve in the shortest format. Player of the Match: We put on a big score, it was a fantastic effort from us. All the lads are looking forward to getting out there, and get going against Australia in the three-match series, and obviously then to the World Cup. Credit to the boys for the way they played. Just want to say thank you to everyone, and the PCB for looking after us. Moeen Ali collects the trophy from Ramiz Raja and hands it to his team-mates as England pose with the 'Winners' banner.

England beat Pakistan by 67 runs to win T20 decider and claim ... (The Guardian)

Dawid Malan hit an unbeaten 78 as England sealed a 4-3 series win over Pakistan in Lahore.

4th over: Pakistan 22-2 (Iftikhar 9, Masood 8) And now there’s a drop from England! 10th over: Pakistan 68-3 (Khushdil 16, Masood 27) Curran runs in to bowl his assortment of slower balls/cutters into the surface. Back-to-back boundaries follow for Iftikhar, with his second shot particularly impressive; he made room with a shuffle to the leg-side, punching Topley’s slower ball through the off-side. 17th over: Pakistan 116-5 (Masood 44, Nawaz 9) The singles tick on before Nawaz pumps a fuller ball from Topley down the ground for four. Rashid tosses the ball up and Masood gets on one knee to smash it over deep midwicket for six. A beautiful over to close the spell from the England leggie. 13th over: Pakistan 86-4 (Masood 33, Asif 0) A googly to Asif Ali is followed by a sharp-turning leg-break, and then another googly follows, hitting Asif’s pad. Khushdil dances down second ball but can only bunt it back to the bowler. Masood swats away for four and goes to fifty by picking up a couple through the leg-side. Woakes bowls a wide off-cutter that Masood flashes at, and the ball flies to the right of Rashid at short third man who pulls off a cracking catch. They were excellent with the ball, putting a stop to the contest by removing Babar and Rizwan before the ninth ball of the innings. Moeen Ali with some final thoughts on a memorable series: “The way we’ve come back and won those two games so comfortably [after being 3-2 down in the series] was amazing to see.
