West Ham vs Wolves live: Score and latest updates from the Premier ... (Telegraph.co.uk)

Seventeenth meets 18th in this evening's Premier League contest at the London Stadium, as West Ham United host fellow strugglers Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Bruno Lage can be slightly encouraged by the fact that his side boast the joint-best defensive record on the road so far, being one of the five teams to have conceded just three goals in away match but the visitors have a gone a miserable seven Premier League away games without a win since prevailing at Everton in March. Wolves are dangling just above the dotted line in 17th place and travel to the London Stadium still waiting for their first away win of the new Premier League season. A tally of just two defeats from their last seven outings, in all competitions may look good on paper, but football matches are not played on paper, and West Ham now set out to end a six-game winless streak at the London Stadium in the the Premier League- not since 2003 have they endured a longer such run.

Bet Builder Tips: We've a 48/1 punt for West Ham v Wolves (Paddy Power News)

West Ham to win · Under 2.5 goals · Jarrod Bowen to score anytime · Ruben Neves to have one or more shot on target.

Wolves, like West Ham, have managed just one win this season and have failed to produce the level of performance that saw them finish in the top ten last season. They have taken just one point from three away games to date, giving West Ham the perfect opportunity to record their first home win of the season. The Hammers look off the pace compared to their last two campaigns which saw them finish in the top seven on back-to-back occasions.

West Ham head into what looks like a crucial Premier League game with Wolves later today with no fresh injury concerns to contend with.

It’s very hard nowadays to necessarily go with a 4-4-2, so to play two strikers is mainly three at the back. We’ve got [Nayef] Aguerd coming back, which will give us something different as well.” I think that is it about them all really.”

Costa, who has not played a competitive match since leaving Atletico Mineiro in January, might only be fit enough for a place on the bench. Only the three relegated clubs scored fewer goals in 2021/22, and Bruno Lage’s charges have drawn a blank in a majority of their seven matches so far this season.

Minute-by-minute report: Will the goal-shy clubs find their shooting boots in Saturday's late kick-off? Join Scott Murray.

The ball takes a huge deflection and drops to Ait-Nouri, free near the left-hand corner of the six-yard box. It’s tapped to Jonny, who attempts to release Semedo down the wing, but clumsily clanks out for a goal kick. Bowen enters the box and takes a shot. But his shot, from the left-hand corner of the six-yard box, bounces harmlessly across the face of goal and out for a goal kick. The ball balloons up off a defender and drops towards Bowen, just inside the box on the right. Kehrer’s clearance is dismal, the ball dropping to Traore on the edge of the D. 47 min: Ait-Nouri advances down the left and pulls back for Moutinho, who has time and space to shoot … Wolves try to respond immediately, winning a corner down the right, but when Guedes gets the ball at his feet, he dallies and the chance to shoot is gone. But he needs to get a level of fitness to get used to the Podence returns the ball with a whip towards the bottom left. He enters the box and aims a curler towards the top left. We suffered without the ball, we knew that, but we’re a tough group to break down, and you saw the chances we had on the break.

West Ham vs Wolves: Two sides straddling either side of the relegation zone will be desperate for a victory when they meet at London Stadium on Saturday.

Raul Jimenez, meanwhile, has played just 211 minutes in three Premier League appearances (none since Aug. West Ham and Wolves both rank in the bottom five of the Premier League in expected goals with identical paltry 0.9 xG averages (per 90 minutes). West Ham 2 Wolves 0 LIVE SCORE: Bowen adds second after ... (The Irish Sun)

JARROD BOWEN has added a second for West Ham after Gianluca Scamacca scored his first Premier league goal. The Hammers are looking to end their winless.

Lage reacted by chucking on pantomime villain Costa, who despite being without a club since January was quickly in the thick of it with an agonising headed miss and an assist for Podence that was pulled back for offside. Cameras cut to Costa on the bench sipping a Red Bull, but it was one of his team-mates that needed one as Pedro Neto hobbled off for Adama Traore. Gianluca Scamacca calmed the nerves in the 29th minute with a strike of his own – his first in the Prem in just his second league start since his £30.5m summer move from Sassuolo. Wolves are falling, and fast, issues compounded when it was revealed in the opening seconds of the match that Ruben Neves was playing as a makeshift centre back. But that rut finally ended last night in the 54th minute with a strike that was as timely as it was sweet given the countdown towards the World Cup in November. His goal secured a win so desperately craved by Moyes and the London Stadium faithful after beginning this season with just one win in their opening seven.

As for the team news, West Ham boss David Moyes makes three changes to the side that started the 1-0 defeat at Everton in Gameweek 8. There is a bit of interest from a Fantasy Premier League (FPL) perspective, at least, with some of the Hammers’ assets targets of Gameweek 8/9 Wildcarders due to their upcoming fixture run. The two lowest-scoring sides in the Premier League meet in east London in the final Premier League match of the day, a fixture that doesn’t scream ‘entertaining Saturday evening fare’ on paper.

But West Ham doubled their lead in the 54th minute when Thilo Kehrer’s drive spun into the path of Bowen. West Ham should have gone ahead when Bowen’s shot was spilled by Jose Sa to the feet of Scamacca but the Italian striker scooped the rebound wide. The Portugal midfielder’s task for the evening was not made any easier when he picked up an early booking for a body-check on Bowen.

West Ham won 2-0 against Wolves with Gianluca Scamacca and Jarrod Bowen both finding the net as Bruno Lage admitted his team are "under pressure". Scamacca ...

This was a timely performance from Bowen, who caught the eye and looked like a player with a point to prove. Of course, Neves had the class and natural ability not to look out of place in the heart of the Wolves defence but an early booking - his fifth of the season - for a late challenge on Jarrod Bowen didn't help his cause - he now misses the next game against Chelsea. And, although it's probably too late for Max Kilman to make a late surge for the squad, the Wolves defender impressed playing down the left of a back three up against a dangerous attack. West Ham travel to Anderlecht in the Europa Conference League on Thursday at 5.45pm. This means the Wolves midfield will be without his ability to dictate a game yet again. West Ham always looked a threat when breaking up the visitors' possession game and Bowen came to the party for the first time this season on 54 minutes. He's just needed to get a level of fitness for the Premier League. I can say we are a different team when we have a striker. But it happened and we need to move on. In the first 30 minutes we had three good chances. It was a rare moment of worry for a West Ham backline that hardly broke a sweat. The £35.5m signing is off and running in the Premier League.
